Abstract:The hotspots due to obtained by aci production technology of biodiesel over heterogeneous catalysts become the research its environmental-benign process and great economic benefits. The activated clay was difying high purity montmorillonite with HCl. Supported NaOH/montmorillonite solid base catalyst was prepared by loading NaOH on alkaline montmorillonite which was abtained from activated clay modified by Ca (OH)2. The as-prepared solid base catalyst was used in the transesterification for biodiesel production. The results showed that the loading amount of NaOH on alkaline montmorillonite was 4.1 mmol·g^-1 under the condition as follows : mass ratio of NaOH to alkaline montmorillonite 0.7, loading time 18 h,and OH^- content in alkaline montmorillonite 1.41 mmol ·g^-1. The transesterification conversion of soybean oil to biodiesel over the solid base catalyst reached 91.8% ; The catalyst exhibited better catalytic properties than KOH, and the advantages of easy recycle and less pollution for the environment.
