Abstract:To study and explore the relationship and the trend of species diversity between mammals and parasitic fleas in China. Citing the recent publications (including: ' a complete checklist of mammal species and subspecies in China' and 'Fauna Sinica · Insecta · Siphonaptera (second edition) ' ) which reflected the profile of the mammalian and flea fauna, and then collecting and counting the data of the geographical distribution of each family, genus and species (excluding subspecies) of the different mammals and Siphonaptera which based on China's administrative divisions, we applied the Pearson linear correlation analysis to compare and analyze the correlation relationship among animals ( including: terrestrial mammals, small mammals, rodents, fleas) , such as families-families, genera-genera, species-species, species-families, species-genera. The results showed that: ( 1 ) The richness of families-families, genera-genera and species-species among various mammals and parasitic fleas showed a very significant positive correlation ; (2) With the changes of taxa and groups (including: mammals →the terrestrial mammals →small mammals →rodents →fleas) , the Pearson correlation index of the richness of families-families, genera-genera and species-species was gradually reduced; (3) The Pearson correlation index of the richness in species-families is less than species-genera. This result is drawn by the statistic analysis of material collected the number of families, genus and species of various types of animals (including: terrestrial mammals, small mammals, rodents, fleas). This reflects that the Pearson correlation index of the richness showed the increased trend with the diminished and allied taxa or groups; (4) Belonging to the correlative relationship between fleas and various types of mammals, the correlation of genera-genera ( r 〉 0. 803) or species-species ( r 〉 0. 768) between rodents and parasitic fleas showed maximum. It was confirmed that high taxa richness shows the positive correlation between mammals and fleas in the large spatial scale domain. Among them, the correlation of genera-genera and species-species between rodents and fleas, which reflects the long-term choice, co-evolution and mutual adaptation.
