Effect of different acupoint massage on gastrointestinal function of elderly patients after laparoscopic cholecystectomy

Objective To observe the effect of single point and multi point massage on gastrointestinal function in elderly patients after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.Methods 72 elderly patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy and cholecystectomy plus bile duct exploration in Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Shanghai City from December 2014 to February 2017 were randomly divided into three groups:single point massage group(group A),multi point massage group(group B)and routine nursing group(group C),with 24 cases in each group.All patients were treated with conventional laparoscopic cholecystectomy.After the operation,patients in group A were massaged bilateral Zusanli(ST36),ones in group B were massaged Zusanli(ST36),Shangjuxu(ST37),Sanyinjiao(SP6),and ones in group C were given routine nursing.Patients in group A and group B were given acupoint massage 30 minutes before surgery,and 6 h,12 h,24 h,36 h and 48 h after surgery,respectively.The postoperative anal exhaust time,defecation time,the recovery time of bowel sounds,and the occurrence of abdominal distension,nausea and vomiting in the 3 groups were observed and compared.Results There was no significant difference in age,gender,body mass index,operation time and operation type among the three groups(P=0.750,0.943,0.530,0.928,0.883,all P>0.05).Compared with group C,all of the recovery time of bowel sounds,anal exhaust time and defecation time in group A and group B was earlier,and the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting was lower(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the recovery time of bowel sounds,anal exhaust time,defecation time,and the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting between group A and group B(P>0.05).Conclusion Acupoint massage can significantly promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function after laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anesthesia.The therapeutic effect of single point massage is similar to that of multi point massage.
