Concentrations of trace metals in various tissues of the squid Loligo opalescens and their redistribution after canning

The trace metals (Mn, Cu, Zn, Fe, Cd, Pb and Ag) have been determined in various tissues of raw and canned Loligo opalescens squid. As a consequence of processing whole squid, highly elevated levels of cadmium, and to a lesser extent of the other trace metals investigated, were found in the edible parts of canned whole squid.
