Abstract: | Records of near-ground temperatures from 1860 to the present show an increase of temperature of about 0.45 ± 0.15 °C. Some models predict that annual air temperatures in the Eurasian cold regions could increase by 3 to 6 °C in the years 2020 to 2030. The magnitude of such changes in Arctic climate would produce serious and far reaching environmental problems in Eurasian cold regions underlain by permafrost. In this paper the author tries to evaluate the probable catastrophic implications of global climatic change in the cold regions of Eurasia. |
