Abstract: | Composite materials, in general, have so far been used mainly for structural applications. However, with regard to metal matrix
composites, interest is growing on account of their physical properties. Indeed, customer requirements in this field cannot
always be met by traditional materials.
This paper first presents a brief overview of the interaction between fabrication, microstructure and properties of metal
matrix composites. Further, some changes in the strategy for modelling and designing these materials are discussed. Finally,
future prospects are outlined. |
