Abstract:Objective To discuss the clinical value of insulin glargine combined with acarbose in the treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 202 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were divided into control group and research group by random numerical table, with 101 cases in each group. The control group was treated with insulin glargine alone, and the research group was treated with insulin glargine and acarbose. Both groups were compared in terms of fasting blood glucose, 2 h postprandial C-peptide, glycosylated hemoglobin, and mean amplitude of glycemic excuisions(MAGE) before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the fasting blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin of the two groups were lower than those of this group before treatment, and the fasting blood glucose(5.23±1.86) mmol/L and glycosylated hemoglobin(5.20±1.54)% of the research group were lower than(7.01±2.01) mmol/L and(7.98±2.02)% of the control group. All the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). After treatment,the 2 h postprandial C-peptide of the two groups were higher than those of this group before treatment, and the postprandial 2 h C-peptide(2.97±0.54) ng/ml of the research group was higher than(2.66±0.55) ng/ml of the control group. All the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). The MAGE(3.29±1.18) mmol/L of the research group was significantly lower than(4.96±1.32) mmol/L of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion Insulin glargine combined with acarbose in the treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus can help regulate glucose metabolism and stabilize blood glucose level,which is worthy of promotion.
