| Abstract: | An approach to approximate analysis of deformation and strain is developed from recent work on Cauchy mean rotation 1,2]. The approximate expressions of Green strain usually employed in solving problems of nonlinear mechanics and their errors are discussed. The estimation of error is strictly based on the definition of small strain and medium or large rotation. |
