Abstract:The influence of gravel filling parameters on filling efficiency in the development of radial horizontal wells cannot be ignored. In order to study the influence of various factors on the packing efficiency and how to reasonably configure the parameters in the gravel packing process of radial horizontal wells, the gravel packing tool is numerically simulated and analyzed based on computational fluid dynamics, and the simulation values are compared with the orthogonal test results to evaluate the accuracy of the numerical simulation results. The results show that the higher the mortar displacement and the greater the viscosity of the sand carrying fluid,the longer the gravel transportation distance, the easier it is to reach the end of the horizontal section of the radial horizontal well, and the higher the packing efficiency. The larger the sand carrying ratio is, the faster the gravel sedimentation rate and sand bed accumulation rate are, but the sand plugging phenomenon is easy to occur and the actual filling efficiency becomes lower. Meantime, the optimal parameter combination in the numerical simulation is that the mortar displacement is 850 L/min, the sand carrying ratio is 15% and the viscosity of sand carrying liquid is 10 mPa · s, and the optimal parameter combination is consistent with the results of orthogonal test.
