煤层气是指煤层中吸附和游离状态的甲烷天然气。石油与天然气勘探测井系列可以用来勘探煤和煤层气，包括基本测井系列和辅助测井系列。前者有岩性测井、饱和度测井和孔隙度测井３种方法；后者包括地层倾角测井、超声波成像测井、声波波列测井、自然伽马能谱测井、碳氧比能谱测井等８种方法。文中探讨了两种测井解释煤层气藏的思路和方法，它们是中子—密度孔隙度重叠法和中子—声波孔隙度重叠法。通过在广西百色盆地江１井、南海西部气田和胜利油田等地的实践证明，该方法是勘探煤层气藏的一种有效手段

Interpretation of Coalbed Gas Reservoir by Logging

Coalbed gas means the adsorbed and free methane gas in coal bed.The logging suites (including basic logging suites and auxiliary ones) for oil and gas exploration can be used for exploring coal and coalbed gas. The basic logging suites include lithologic log,saturation log and porosity log and the auxiliary logging suites include eight logging methods,such as diplog,ultrasonic imaging log,acoustic wave train log,natural gamma ray spectrometry log and carbon/oxygen spectral logging,etc..In this paper,the train of thought for interpreting coalbed gas reservoir by two logging methodsneutrondensity porosity overlapping method and neutronacoustic porosity overlapping method is discussed.Through their practical application to well Jiang1 in Baise basin in Guangxi province,West Nanhai (the South China Sea) gas field and Shengli oil field,etc.,it is proved that these methods are an effective measure for exploring coalbed gas reservoir.
