| Abstract: | In this paper,the scattering problem of plane waves by a homogeneous or inhomogeneous dielectric cylinder with an arbitrary geometry is first analysed by using the method of finite element and the method of Green's function.Then the Near and Far scat- tering field patterns for a circular cylinder,a retangular cylinder,a layered cylinder,and a cylinder,avretially metal-coated are calculated respectively.The results obtained for the circular cylinder are compared with its analytical solution,and their positive agreement in- dicates the validity of the method used and the computer programs written. |
