| Abstract: | Percutanious transluminal plugging of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) has been performed on 19 patients,among whom 15 are females and 4 males with ages ranging from 6 to 54 years.All the operations have turned out to be successful without any complications.A new method is intruduced,with which we explore the size of PDA with a balloon catheter stead of x-ray angiography.It is considered that the inside diameter and expansibility of PDA can be inaccurately evaluated by a balloon catheter,and then the PDA plugging can be safely and successfully carried out in a single operation.It is believed that the way of balloon exploration,which makes the PDA plugging safer,simpler,more convenient and easier to be popularized,is better than that of angiography. |
