| Abstract: | The effect of postburn serum on T lymphocyte proliferation response was studied. The results showed that postburn serum was able to inhibit T lymphocyte transformation. The degree of serum suppression correlated with reduced T lymphocyte transformation after burn. Postburn serum also showed significant suppressive activities upon both interleukin 2 (IL-2) production and interaction betweeen IL-2 and IL-2 receptor (IL-2R), but had no significant effect on interleukin 1 (1L-1) producticn. This result indicated that postburn serum might inhibit IL-2 production and response through certain pathway other than IL-1 production, resulting in impaired T lymphocyte proliferation response. |
