Frank Fitzgerald Medal and Travel Award

Abstract

The Frank Fitzgerald Medal and Travel Award, a new personal award from the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM³), is made to a young member who is active in the field of iron and steel and who has demonstrated excellence in, and commitment to, continuing professional development. Dr Chris McDonald, the inaugural recipient, reports on the activities the 2005 Award helped to fund. A paper was presented at the Asia Steel Conference and a tour undertaken of the Japanese steel industry.
