The Network Planning and Operations Management of Milan Metro

Milan metro system, as one of the crucial parts of Milan public transport system, has a long constructing history. This article introduces Milan metro system from two aspects as follows: the network planning and the operations management. From the aspect of metro network planning, this article describes the general situation of the metro existing lines, the line extension planning and the connection with other rail traffic modes. This paper also analyzes the characteristic and function of the line net. In addition, it introduces the metro station design and the operation management of Milan metro with the vehicles and the power supply mode and the fare policy included. This article summarizes the advantages of Milan metro system in various tickets systems and multiple traffic methods of connection, which could be guidance to domestic metro system.
