Clinical application of modified nasal septum suture in correction of nasal septum

Objective To investigate the feasibility and safety of modified nasal septum suture in nasal septum correction. Methods Sixty patients with deviation of nasal septum and inferior turbinate fracture were divided into packing group and suture group. In packing group, 30 cases were treated with nasal septum correction and inferior turbinate fracture displacement, and nasal ventilation tube was filled and supported after operation thirty cases in suture group were sutured with uninterrupted loop suture method after septum correction, and bilateral nasal cavity was not filled after operation. The visual analogue scale (VAS) of postoperative nasal pain, nasal congestion, sleep difficulty and tears and bleeding volume were compared between the two groups. The patients with recurrent bleeding, nasal septum perforation, hematoma, adhesion, infection and other conditions were recorded in the outpatient follow-up. Results The VAS of nasal pain, tears and sleep difficulty in the packing group was greater than that in the suture group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the amount of nasal congestion and bleeding between the two groups. There was no significant difference in nasal septum hematoma and nasal cavity adhesion between the two groups during the follow-up (P>0.05). Conclusions After nasal septum correction, the use of improved suture technology without packing can significantly improve the nasal and ocular symptoms and sleep status of patients, which can reduce the postoperative discomfort symptoms and reduce the related complications of patients.
