| Abstract: | The factors of influencing women fertility can be devided into two types direct influenccs(for instance, married status, contraception etc. )and indirect ones(for example, social, economic etc, ) .Since the fertility can only be affected by the indirect ones througth the direct influences, the direct ones are also called intermediate fertility variables.The paper applied Bongaarts model for studying on reproductive women intermediate fertility variables of the city of Chongqing and rural areas. The results of study show that ( 1 ) toal fertility rates ( TFR ) of the city of Chongqing and rural area have reduced the levels of developed countries. (2) the main factor of influenced fertility is the use of contraceptive methods but the usu-effectiveness rate of contraception is lower in the two areas, so that womens induced abortion rate is higher. ( 3 ) The method of applying the Bongaarts model to analyse the inter-mediate fertility variables is a better one |
