Abstract: | Aiming at providing references to China's urban development in the reform era, this paper gives a brief summary of the recent academic advances about the contemporary urban development in Asia. Mainly based on reviewing the literature concerning Asian specificity, the author attempts at addressing the current critical orientations of international urban studies.
