Research Progress on Bioactivity and Embedding Technology of Litsea cubeba Essential Oil

Litsea cubeba is a traditional Chinese medicine, whose leaves, flowers, roots and pericarps all contain essential oil. Litsea cubeba essential oil is a kind of natural antibacterial agent, which has good inhibitory effect on a variety of bacteria and fungi, and has biological activities such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, mosquito repellent. However, the application of Litsea cubeba essential oil has been limited due to its poor water solubility, strong volatility and easy decomposition when exposed to light and heat. Therefore, it is necessary to embed the essential oil of Litsea cubeba to increase its water solubility and stability, so that it can be suitable for more fields. In this paper, the bioactivity of Litsea cubeba essential oil and the embedding technology of Litsea cubeba essential oil in recent years were reviewed, which provided necessary ideas and references for the follow-up research.
