With the deepening of the electric power system reform, long-distance centralized control and management for cascade hydropower stations is a trend for the management of valley hydropower developing companies. The necessity for long-distance centralized control and management of the cascade hydropower stations of the Hydropower Development Company of the Upstream Yellow River is briefly stated. The general programming of the long-distance centralized control and management for the cascade hydropower stations is introduced; furthermore, the practice in construction of the long-distance centralized control system for the cascade hydropower stations is introduced. And some ideas for follow-up construction of the system are proposed.
