This study aims to determine the transient behavior of the blended queue. Priority customers arrive over time and benefit from a threshold reservation policy, while non-priority ones can be contacted at any time. We show how to compute the Laplace transforms of the transient probabilities. Using the uniformization technique, we prove some monotonicty properties of the expected number of customers in the queue, explaining why the optimal transient reservation threshold should be lower than the stationary one.  相似文献

We investigate GI X /M(n)//N systems with stochastic customer acceptance policy, function of the customer batch size and the number of customers in the system at its arrival. We address the time-dependent and long-run analysis of the number of customers in the system at prearrivals and postarrivals of batches and seen by customers at their arrival to the system, as well as customer blocking probabilities. These results are then used to derive the continuous-time long-run distribution of the number of customers in the system. Our analysis combines Markov chain embedding with uniformization and uses stochastic ordering as a way to bound the errors of the computed performance measures.   相似文献

Since inherent randomness in chemically reacting systems is evident, stochastic modeling and simulation are exceedingly important for investigating complex biological networks. Within the most common stochastic approach a network is modeled by a continuous-time Markov chain governed by the chemical master equation. We show how the continuous-time Markov chain can be converted to a stochastically identical discrete-time Markov chain and obtain a discrete-time version of the chemical master equation. Simulating the discrete-time Markov chain is equivalent to the Gillespie algorithm but requires less effort in that it eliminates the generation of exponential random variables. Thus, exactness as possessed by the Gillespie algorithm is preserved while the simulation can be performed more efficiently.  相似文献

We prove a general existence result for instantaneously complete Ricci flows starting at an arbitrary Riemannian surface which may be incomplete and may have unbounded curvature. We give an explicit formula for the maximal existence time, and describe the asymptotic behaviour in most cases.  相似文献

On compact surfaces with or without boundary, Osgood, Phillips and Sarnak proved that the maximum of the determinant of the Laplacian within a conformal class of metrics with fixed area occurs at a metric of constant curvature and, for negative Euler characteristic, exhibited a flow from a given metric to a constant curvature metric along which the determinant increases. The aim of this paper is to perform a similar analysis for the determinant of the Laplacian on a non-compact surface whose ends are asymptotic to hyperbolic funnels or cusps. In that context, we show that the Ricci flow converges to a metric of constant curvature and that the determinant increases along this flow.  相似文献

Given a smooth functionK < 0 we prove a result by Berger, Kazhdan and others that in every conformal class there exists a metric which attains this function as its Gaussian curvature for a compact Riemann surface of genusg > 1. We do so by minimizing an appropriate functional using elementary analysis. In particular forK a negative constant, this provides an elementary proof of the uniformization theorem for compact Riemann surfaces of genusg > 1. This paper studies the normalized Ricci flow on a nonparabolic surface, whose scalar curvature is asymptotically –1 in an integral sense. By a method initiated by R. Hamilton, the flow is shown to converge to a metric of constant scalar curvature –1. A relative estimate of Green’s function is proved as a tool.   相似文献

We study an integrable, nondegenerate codimension 3-subbundle ${\mathcal{D}}We study an integrable, nondegenerate codimension 3-subbundle on a (4n + 3)-manifold M whose fiber supports the structure of 4n-dimensional quaternionic vector space. It is thought of as a generalization of quaternionic CR structure. We single out an -valued 1-form ω locally on a neighborhood U such that and construct the curvature invariant on (M, ω) whose vanishing gives a uniformization to flat quaternionic CR geometry. The invariant obtained on M has the same formula as that of pseudo-quaternionic K?hler 4n-manifolds. From this viewpoint, we exhibit a quaternionic analogue of Chern-Moser’s CR structure.
