AssetCollector: a system for managing collections of cultural assets

In this paper, AssetCollector is presented, which is a system for managing collections of cultural assets. AssetCollector covers the needs of collection curators towards defining, populating and searching a collection in a flexible way, while supporting them in generating reports based on the collection’s assets and reusing them in order to build web sites and CD-ROMs. In order to support the above functionality, the system provides the content structuring subsystem, the content input subsystem, the search subsystem and the report subsystem. The use of the subsystems is straightforward and requires no technical skills from the curators. AssetCollector has been successfully applied for organizing various collections of cultural assets in Greece, such as archaeological sites, museums and published books. In the future, an evaluation procedure is planned in order to further refine the use of the system according to the targeted users’ needs. Furthermore, more import and export facilities will be provided, which will make the system compliant with widely accepted standards.     

高职计算机文化分专业分层次教学的实践与思考

指出了高职计算机文化课程教学面临的诸多问题,这些问题的存在严重制约了课程教学效果的提高.为此,在深入企业调研和对教学对象调查的基础上,结合各专业类别特点及其对计算机基本操作技能的不同需求,选取不同专业的班级作为研究对象,采用“横向分专业,纵向分层次”的教学方法进行了实践教学.实践结果表明,分专业分层次教学方法能有效解决高职“计算机文化”课程教学中存在的主要问题.     

非制度化利益表达产生的原因及其治理路径

理论界多认为民众失衡的社会心理是非制度化利益表达产生的原因,忽略了单位制解体后的组织缺位或越位是导致民众非制度化利益表达方式产生的重要因素.这是因为：一方面,单位组织解体后利益表达主体没有可以依赖的政治或社会组织,缺乏社会资本支撑;另一方面,利益分化导致的利益结构失衡使利益表达主体产生了消极政治心理,影响着其政治行为.因此,非制度化利益表达的治理路径是：强化已有利益表达渠道的效能,使民众拥有组织归属感;拓宽利益表达渠道,化解民众消极政治心理.

Determination of the status of stakeholder participation in the management of the Lake Malawi basin through application of Integrated Lake Basin Management

Lake Malawi is the southernmost of the Great Rift Valley Lakes of Africa and boasts the world's greatest freshwater fish biodiversity. Along with its basin, the lake provides many benefits to the country of Malawi. Settlements, agriculture and fishing are some of the major uses of the lake basin, making community involvement a necessary component of its management. With the use of key informant interviews, questionnaire survey, document review and site observations, this study demonstrates the applicability of the Integrated Lake Basin Management framework in the Lake Malawi Basin in regard to stakeholder participation. The main objective was to assess the participation of stakeholders, especially local communities, in the management of the lake basin. The framework applied in this study is discussed. The study findings indicate strong to very strong stakeholder participation, with notably high levels of awareness and women's involvement. Enhancing the understanding of the complex nature of lake basin issues, especially those related to the linkages between the water body and the basin, is a topic requiring further attention.

Water Crisis

Abstract

Water crisis was not considered seriously at the Dublin and Rio conferences. It was put on the world agenda primarily by the Stockholm Water Symposia. Water management is likely to change more during the next twenty years compared to the past 2,000 years. The paper reviews the global water situtation based on the latest data available. In terms of water availability, it concludes that one can now be cautiously optimistic of the global water future. If there is to be a crisis, it is likely to be for two reasons: water quality and lack of investments. Neither of these two issues are receiving adquate attention at present. The roles IWRA can play in the future are briefly outlined.
