We consider a single machine scheduling problem with two min-sum objective functions: the sum of completion times and the sum of weighted completion times. We propose a simple polynomial time (1+(1/γ),1+γ)-approximation algorithm, and show that for γ>1, there is no (x,y)-approximation with 1<x<1+(1/γ) and 1<y<1+(γ-1)/(2+γ).  相似文献

A market is considered where trading can take place only at discrete time points, the trading frequency cannot grow without bound, and the number of states of nature is finite. The main objectives of the paper are to show that the market can be completed also with highly correlated risky assets, and to describe an efficient algorithm to compute a self-financing hedging strategy. The algorithm consists off-line of a backwards recursion and on-line of the solution, in each period, of a system of linear equations; it is a consequence of a proof where, using a well-known mathematical property, it is shown that uniqueness of the martingale measure implies completeness also in our setting. The significance of ‘multistate’ models versus the familiar binomial model is discussed and it is shown how the evolution of prices of the (correlated) risky assets can be chosen so that a given probability measure is already the unique equivalent martingale measure.  相似文献

We consider the theory Thprin of Boolean algebras with a principal ideal, the theory Thmax of Boolean algebras with a maximal ideal, the theory Thac of atomic Boolean algebras with an ideal where the supremum of the ideal exists, and the theory Thsa of atomless Boolean algebras with an ideal where the supremum of the ideal exists. First, we find elementary invariants for Thprin and Thsa. If T is a theory in a first order language and α is a linear order with least element, then we let Sentalg(T) be the Lindenbaum-Tarski algebra with respect to T, and we let intalg(α) be the interval algebra of α. Using rank diagrams, we show that Sentalg(Thprin) ? intalg(ω4), Sentalg(Thmax) ? intalg(ω3) ? Sentalg(Thac), and Sentalg(Thsa) ? intalg(ω2 + ω2). For Thmax and Thac we use Ershov's elementary invariants of these theories. We also show that the algebra of formulas of the theory Tx of Boolean algebras with finitely many ideals is atomic.  相似文献

To include the pointfree case, the notion of a Cauchy map easily extends as the condition that the preimage of any regular Cauchy filter contains a regular Cauchy filter. This extension, however, can be unsatisfactory if the regular Cauchy filters are scarce or non-existent, making the condition too weak, indeed sometimes even void. In this paper a variant of the notion, independent on the existence of any kind of filters, is studied: a homomorphism is called fully Cauchy if it lifts to the completions. This is generally stronger than, and in the spatial and metric cases it coincides with the previously mentioned property. Moreover, it is stable under localization.  相似文献

The ideal topology on a integral domain R is the linear topology which has as a fundamental system of neighborhoods of 0 the nonzero ideals of R. We investigate the properties of the ideal topology on a Noetherian local domain (R, 𝔪), and we establish connections between the 𝔪-adic completion and the ideal completion. We give conditions under which the completion in the ideal topology is Noetherian, and we show that, unlike the 𝔪-adic completion, the completion in the ideal topology is not always Noetherian.  相似文献

Abstract

Let (T, M) be a complete local normal integral domain containing the rationals such that |T/M | ≥ c where c is the cardinality of the real numbers. Let p be a non-maximal prime ideal of T such that T p is a regular local ring. We construct a local Unique Factorization Domain (UFD) A such that the M-adic completion of A is T, p is maximal in the generic formal fiber and all fibers of A are geometrically regular except for those over some height one prime ideals.

Let F be a field. Almost 25 years ago, G.N. de Oliveira has proposed the following completion problems: Describe the possible characteristic polynomials of [Ai,j], i,j{1,2}, where A1,1 and A2,2 are square submatrices, when some of the blocks Ai,j are fixed and the others vary [cf. Linear Multilinear Algebra 2 (1975) 357]. Several of these problems remain unsolved. This paper gives the solution, over the field of real numbers, of Oliveira's problem where the blocks A1,2,A2,1 are fixed and the others vary.  相似文献

This paper studies four n-job, m-machine flowshop problems when processing times of jobs on various machines follow certain conditions. The objective is to obtain a sequence, which minimizes total elapsed time under no-idle constraint. Under no-idle constraint, the machines work continuously without idle-interval. We prove two theorems. We introduce simple algorithms without using branch and bound technique. Numerical examples are also given to demonstrate the algorithms.  相似文献
