From its foundation until 2004, ETRI has registered over 1,000 US patents. This letter analyzes the characteristics of these patents and addresses the explanatory factors affecting their citation counts. For explanatory variables, research team related variables, invention specific variables, and geographical domain related variables are suggested. Zero‐altered count data models are used to test the impact of independent variables. A key finding is that technological cumulativeness, the scale of invention, outputs in the electronic field, and the degree of dependence on the US technology domain positively affect the citation counts of ETRI‐invented US patents. The magnitude of international presence appears to negatively affect the citation counts of ETRI‐invented US patents. 相似文献

Swine carcass microflora were evaluated for selected foodborne pathogens after exposure to reconditioned water during scalding, dehairing, and polishing operations. Reused water had been reconditioned and chlorinated. Rodac plates applied to hams were used to assess carcass microflora. Water samples were enumerated using membrane filtration or spiral plating. Sampling was at mid-week throughout the year. Total aerobic plate counts on hams were unaffected by treating with potable or reconditioned waters. No differences were observed for staphylococci, enterics, fecal streptococci, Listeria monocytogenes, coliforms, and Aeromonas levels. A preevisceration potable water carcass wash reduced the bacterial load, regardless of initial treatment. Bacterial counts on carcasses paralleled those in water. Reuse is an alternative to potable water for initial slaughter operations without diminishing bacteriologic safety. 相似文献

A study was undertaken to examine the sensitivity of a wastewater population of coliphage, total coliforms and total flora present in raw sewage and secondary effluent after irradiating with similar doses delivered by a high-energy electron beam and y -radiation. The electron beam study was conducted on a large scale at the Virginia Key Wastewater Treatment Plant, Miami, Fla. The facility is equipped with a 1.5 MeV, 50 mA electron accelerator, with a wastewater flow rate of 8 ls−1. Concurrent y-radiation studies were conducted at laboratory scale using a 5000 Ci, 60Co y -source. Three logs reduction of all three test organisms were observed at an electron beam dose of 500 krads, while at least four logs reduction were observed at the same dose utilizing the y-source. 相似文献

This paper investigates detecting significant increases in communication patterns and levels between small groups of individuals within a moderate‐size targeted group. Potential applications range from trying to establish emerging thought leaders within an organisation to the detection of the planning stages of a crime. The scan statistic is a popular choice for monitoring and detecting spatio‐temporal outbreaks, but it is difficult to apply to large‐scale target groups because of the computational effort required. When monitoring communication levels between thousands of people, the number of combinations of people whose communication may have increased is very high, and to scan through all of these to find which combinations have increased communications significantly is an enormous task. A successful surveillance plan will have early communication outbreak detection properties and good diagnostic capabilities for identifying individuals contributing to this outbreak. This paper proposes a new computationally feasible approach for detecting communication outbreaks based on exponentially weighted moving average smoothed communication counts between individuals within the network. We apply a cumulative sum of ordered signal‐to‐noise (SN) ratios for communication counts to flag significant departures from their respective median values. This plan is demonstrated to be efficient at detecting changes in communication levels for a small part of the network and diagnosing who is involved in the outbreak. This paper deals with verb-verb morphological disambiguation of two different verbs that have the same inflected form. The verb-verb morphological ambiguity (VVMA) is one of the critical Korean parts of speech (POS) tagging issues. The recognition of verb base forms related to ambiguous words highly depends on the lexical information in their surrounding contexts and the domains they occur in. However, current probabilistic morpheme-based POS tagging systems cannot handle VVMA adequately since most of them have a limitation to reflect a broad context of word level, and they are trained on too small amount of labeled training data to represent sufficient lexical information required for VVMA disambiguation.In this study, we suggest a classifier based on a large pool of raw text that contains sufficient lexical information to handle the VVMA. The underlying idea is that we automatically generate the annotated training set applicable to the ambiguity problem such as VVMA resolution via unlabeled unambiguous instances which belong to the same class. This enables to label ambiguous instances with the knowledge that can be induced from unambiguous instances. Since the unambiguous instances have only one label, the automatic generation of their annotated corpus are possible with unlabeled data.In our problem, since all conjugations of irregular verbs do not lead to the spelling changes that cause the VVMA, a training data for the VVMA disambiguation are generated via the instances of unambiguous conjugations related to each possible verb base form of ambiguous words. This approach does not require an additional annotation process for an initial training data set or a selection process for good seeds to iteratively augment a labeling set which are important issues in bootstrapping methods using unlabeled data. Thus, this can be strength against previous related works using unlabeled data. Furthermore, a plenty of confident seeds that are unambiguous and can show enough coverage for learning process are assured as well.We also suggest a strategy to extend the context information incrementally with web counts only to selected test examples that are difficult to predict using the current classifier or that are highly different from the pre-trained data set.As a result, automatic data generation and knowledge acquisition from unlabeled text for the VVMA resolution improved the overall tagging accuracy (token-level) by 0.04%. In practice, 9-10% out of verb-related tagging errors are fixed by the VVMA resolution whose accuracy was about 98% by using the Naïve Bayes classifier coupled with selective web counts. 相似文献

Effects of Rhizosphere Bacteria on Strawberry Plants (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.) under Water Deficit

Due to the observed climate warming, water deficiency in soil is currently one of the most important stressors limiting the size and quality of plant crops. Drought stress causes a number of morphological, physiological, and biochemical changes in plants, limiting their growth, development, and yield. Innovative methods of inducing resistance and protecting plants against stressors include the inoculation of crops with beneficial microorganisms isolated from the rhizosphere of the plant species to which they are to be applied. The aim of the present study was to evaluate 12 different strains of rhizosphere bacteria of the genera Pantoea, Bacillus, Azotobacter, and Pseudomonas by using them to inoculate strawberry plants and assessing their impact on mitigating the negative effects of drought stress. Bacterial populations were assessed by estimates of their size based on bacterial counts in the growth substrate and with bioassays for plant growth-promoting traits. The physiological condition of strawberry plants was determined based on the parameters of chlorophyll fluorescence. The usefulness of the test methods used to assess the influence of plant inoculation with rhizosphere bacteria on the response of plants growing under water deficit was also evaluated. A two-factor experiment was performed in a complete randomization design. The first experimental factor was the inoculation of plant roots with rhizosphere bacteria. The second experimental factor was the different moisture content of the growth substrate. The water potential was maintained at −10 to −15 kPa under control conditions, and at −40 to −45 kPa under the conditions of water deficit in the substrate. The tests on strawberry plants showed that the highest sensitivity to water deficiency, and thus the greatest usefulness for characterizing water stress, was demonstrated by the following indices of chlorophyll “a” fluorescence: FM, FV, FV/FM, PI, and Area. Based on the assessment of the condition of the photosynthetic apparatus and the analysis of chlorophyll “a” fluorescence indices, including hierarchical cluster analysis, the following strains of rhizosphere bacteria were found to have favorable effects on strawberry plants under water deficit: the Bacillus sp. strains DLGB2 and DKB26 and the Pantoea sp. strains DKB63, DKB70, DKB68, DKB64, and DKB65. In the tests, these strains of Bacillus sp. exhibited a common trait—the ability to produce siderophores, while those of Pantoea sp. were notable for phosphate mobilization and ACCD activity. 相似文献

基于三磷酸腺苷(ATP)光学反应原理,结合实验室自制的光学生物传感器,构建了一种快速检测卡介苗(BCG)活菌数的方法。选用加热裂解法提取BCG活菌内ATP,对BCG疫苗进行了检测。结果表明,BCG活菌浓度与相对发光强度(RLU)线性相关,相关系数为0.9908(P<0.01),其ATP含量与文献报道的结果处于同一数量级(10-18mol/CFU)。检测方法的相对标准偏差(RSD)为6.17%。检测样品仅需30μL,检测时间小于30min。与国外商业化检测系统的测试结果线性相关,相关系数为0.9676(P<0.01)。这种方法简便快速,在BCG疫苗及其他活菌疫苗质量控制方面具有广泛的应用前景。 相似文献
