In this paper, we have developed a load-bearing outer skin for antennas, which is termed a composite smart structure (CSS). The CSS is a multilayer composite sandwich structure in which antenna layers are inserted. A direct-feed stacked patch antenna is considered. A design procedure including the structure design, material selection, and design of antenna elements in order to obtain high electric and mechanical performances is presented. An optimized honeycomb thickness is selected for efficient radiation and impedance characteristics. High gain conditions can be obtained by placing the outer facesheet in the resonance position, which is at about a half wavelength distance from the ground plane. The measured electrical performances show that the CSS has a great bandwidth (over 10%) and a higher gain than an antenna without a facesheet and has excellent mechanical performances, owing to the composite laminates and honeycomb cores. The CSS concept can be extended to give a useful guide for manufacturers of structural body panels and for antenna designers. 相似文献

Polyimide/polyimide molecular composite (MC) films comprised of a rigid polyimide derived from biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (BPDA) and p-phenylenediamine (PDA) and a flexible polyimide derived from BPDA and bis (3,3'-diaminodiphenyl) acetylene (intA) and/or oxydianiline (ODA) were prepared by blending the polyamic acid solutions in 7 : 3 weight ratio, and then imidizing the blend films. Acetylene content in the flexible polyimide backbone was controlled by the ratio of intA and ODA. Cold-drawing of the blend polyamic acid films, followed by imidization, gives high modulus polyimide/polyimide MC films. The modulus of the MC films increased almost linearly with the draw ratio, reaching 25.5 GPa for the 40% drawn film. Acetylene groups in the flexible polyimide can be thermally cured to crosslink. The onset of exotherm appeared at 340°C on DSC, reaching maximum at 398°C. After the thermal crosslinking, the MC films maintained the high modulus, though elongation became small. Taking advantage of the crosslinkable acetylene units, two MC films were laminated and processed at 400°C for 20 min under 100 kg/cm2 to give a good-quality laminate film. The interface of the two films was strongly bonded through the crosslinking of acetylene groups. Summary Exact solutions are obtained in the framework of the classical theory of laminates subjected to the action of normal moments,
double forces, double moments or momentless double dipoles. Seven cases of such loads are considered and completed by considering
the case of given transversal discontinuity of normal deflection. It is shown that, in contrast to the case of infinite straight
dislocations in a pure in-plane problem, the energy of this eighth solution depends on the discontinuity orientation. Some
numerical examples are presented. Besides the formal value, the obtained double-force and double-moment solutions, as well
as dimensionless double dipoles, can be used to construct kernels of additional boundary integral equations (BIE). Due to
the coupling phenomena in the BIE system for the region with a corner point, additional variable such as corner forces appear
and require the mentioned equation.

The lamination of composite elements such as sheets or fibres made from ceramic powders represents a cheap and easy way of making tough ceramics. The fabrication and failure behaviour of such layered structures is described. It is shown that crack growth along the interfaces is dominated by dynamic effects due to the storage of excess elastic energy and that effects of loading state, in the silicon carbide/graphite system at least, appear to be relatively unimportant. Crack deflection at interfaces is also discussed and it is shown that observations made in these systems are not consistent with existing theories. Various possibilities are investigated. 相似文献

Implementing resonators with geometrical nonlinearities in vibrational energy harvesting systems leads to considerable enhancement of their operational bandwidths. This advantage of nonlinear devices in comparison to their linear counterparts is much more obvious especially at small-scale where transition to nonlinear regime of vibration occurs at moderately small amplitudes of the base excitation. In this paper the nonlinear behavior of a disc-shaped piezoelectric laminated harvester considering midplane-stretching effect is investigated. Extended Hamilton's principle is exploited to extract electromechanically coupled governing partial differential equations of the system. The equations are firstly order-reduced and then analytically solved implementing perturbation method of multiple scales. A nonlinear finite element method(FEM) simulation of the system is performed additionally for the purpose of verification which shows agreement with the analytical solution to a large extent. The frequency response of the output power at primary resonance of the harvester is calculated to investigate the effect of nonlinearity on the system performance. Effect of various parameters including mechanical quality factor, external load impedance and base excitation amplitude on the behavior of the system are studied. Findings indicate that in the nonlinear regime both output power and operational bandwidth of the harvester will be enhanced by increasing the mechanical quality factor which can be considered as a significant advantage in comparison to linear harvesters in which these two factors vary in opposite ways as quality factor is changed. 相似文献

The migration of organic compounds in stratified media is of fundamental concern in environmental and chemical engineering research. The diffusive transport of volatile organic compounds through laminate systems is characterized by partitioning, i.e., the development of concentration discontinuities at the interfaces between the individual laminae. If the transport is governed by cyclic transients, the relevant equations can be written in terms of coupled systems of diffusion equations subject to sinusoidal boundary conditions. This paper solves these systems of equations to present new algebraic solutions for propagation of the sinusoidal modes through arbitrary (finite) numbers of contiguous one-dimensional laminae. Both Cartesian and radial coordinate systems are considered. Two independent formulations of the lamina interface matching conditions are considered, corresponding to (1) an instantaneous partitioning model and to (2) a mass-limited partitioning model. It is shown that sinusoidal components of the concentration solutions propagate dispersively throughout the laminates. This is manifested, for example, in changes in shape of concentration pulses as measured at different points in the laminate system. Algorithms for generating exact dispersion relations for partitioning laminates are given, and an experimental technique for studying interfacial dynamics via frequency domain measurements is proposed. 相似文献
