We present a new rapid prototyping method designed for simple fabrication of 3D microfluidics using a maskless direct writing technique on polymer substrates. The entire process is enabled by a commercial cutter plotter with 10 μm resolution precision and high speed. A CAD design of top and bottom microstructures is directly written on a polymer substrate using a cutter plotter after setting up the suitable force. The smallest channel width of 20 μm was obtained with the minimum force and 100 μm from the maximum. Also the written depth increased linearly with force from 30 to 130 μm. Several 3D microfluidic devices are demonstrated using a maskless writing technique. The entire fabrication process from CAD layout to a final 3D device can be completed in 30 min outside the clean room facilities. 相似文献

Cutter runout is a common phenomenon affecting the cutting performances in milling operations. To date, most of the milling process models considering cutter runout were established based on the circular tooth path approximation, which brought errors into the runout estimation. In this paper, a new approach is presented for modelling the milling process geometry with cutter runout based on the true tooth trajectory of cutter in milling. The mathematical relationship between the trajectories generated by successive cutter teeth with runout is analysed. The milling process geometrical parameters, including the instantaneous undeformed chip thickness, the entry and exit angles of a cutting tooth, and the ideal peripheral machined workpiece surface roughness, are modelled according to the true tooth trajectories. Numerical method is used to solve the derived transcendental equations. A simulation study of the effects of cutter runout on milling process geometry is conducted using the models. It was found that the change of cutter radius for a tooth relative to its preceding one is the most important factor in evaluating the effects of cutter runout. 相似文献

Contact surfaces do not make contact perfectly because such surfaces have a lot of asperities. The real contact area is much smaller than the nominal contact area, and the real contact areas has a non-uniform distribution because of the waviness in the contact surface. The contact stiffness is influenced not only by the deformation of the asperities, but also by the distribution of the real contact areas. In general, a contact surface with a uniform distribution of the real contact areas has greater contact stiffness. However, this requires a grinding finish and costs more than the cutting finish. In this study, a method for uniformly distributing the real contact areas easily, is proposed to improve the contact stiffness of a contact surface finished by cutting. The method is called the cutter mark cross (CMC) method. The allowable waviness in the CMC method is shown. In addition, the effect of the CMC method is investigated by experimentation. The results show that the real contact areas can be distributed uniformly using the CMC method. The horizontal and vertical contact stiffness can also be improved. 相似文献
