Comparison measurements on reference standards are reported in which 13 partners with different instruments took part. A set of prototype standards which had been produced and calibrated within a European project were used for the measurements. Here, results of measurements on a 240 nm step height standard and a two-dimensional lateral standard with a nominal pitch of 1 μm are reported.  相似文献

Mechanical Behavior of Several Hybrid Ceramic-Matrix-Composite Laminates   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Several different hybrid laminated composites comprised of alternating layers of dense ceramic sheets (either SiC or Si3N4) and fiber-reinforced ceramic-matrix-composite (CMC) layers (Nicalon fibers with either glass or glass-ceramic matrices) have been fabricated and characterized. The effects of the reinforcement architecture (unidirectional vs cross-ply) and the relative volume fractions of the phases on the tensile and flexural properties have been examined. Comparisons have been made with the properties of the constituent layers. Rudimentary models have been developed to describe the onset of cracking and for the minimum volume fraction of CMC required to develop multiple cracks and thus obtain a high failure strain.  相似文献

Although remixing has lately received increased scholarly attention in the rhetoric and composition community, studies commonly focus on examples of remixed objects rather than the compositional strategies used by remix composers themselves. In this study, I recount the voices of individuals who participate in online communities where videos, music, and texts from popular culture are remixed by fans: Lost Video Island, OverClocked ReMix, and Remix Redux. The aims and abilities these composers described to me constitute a developing area of digital literacy that I call remix literacy, a term that draws attention to the skills needed to create remixes that are deemed effective by communities. I find that the skills of a remix literate composer are fundamentally rhetorical, making this area of study important both for literacy scholars interested in understanding the self-sponsored activities of creative composers online and for composition instructors concerned with adapting their pedagogies to the skills I have found are needed for effective communication in fan communities.  相似文献

Four very general families of partially balanced incomplete block designs with two associate classes and having the Latin square type of association scheme are presented. These families have simple, yet general, constructions and the treatment extends particular solutions presented by Chang and Liu (1964). The general treatment brings out relations between the class studied and certain other closely related designs, including balanced incomplete block designs, regular and semi-regular group divisible designs, and various square lattice designs. A by-product is the discovery of one new L 3(5) type and four new regular group divisible designs.  相似文献

The design and initial operation of a vertical square He-Ne ring laser G0 with a perimeter of 14 m is discussed. This builds on earlier demonstrations of the feasibility of large ring lasers (perimeter approximately 4 m) for single-mode gyroscope operation and with lesser pulling than navigation gyroscopes. With servoing of the rf excitation to yield single-mode operation, G0 gave a quality factor 1 x 10(12) and a Sagnac line with a frequency of 287.8 +/- 1.0 Hz induced by Earth rotation Omega(E). This has confirmed some vital questions over the feasibility of very large gyroscopes for geodetic measurements at the level of 10(-9) Omega(E).  相似文献

Individual fluorescent polystyrene nanospheres (<10-100-nm diameter) and individual fluorescently labeled DNA molecules were dispersed on mica and analyzed using time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM). Spatial correlation of the fluorescence and AFM measurements was accomplished by (1) positioning a single fluorescent particle into the near diffraction-limited confocal excitation region of the optical microscope, (2) recording the time-resolved fluorescence emission, and (3) measuring the intensity of the excitation laser light scattered from the apex of an AFM probe tip and the AFM topography as a function of the lateral position of the tip relative to the sample substrate. The latter measurements resulted in concurrent high-resolution (approximately 10-20 nm laterally) images of the laser excitation profile of the confocal microscope and the topography of the sample. Superposition of these optical and topographical images enabled unambiguous identification of the sample topography residing within the excitation region of the optical microscope, facilitating the identification and structural characterization of the nanoparticle(s) or biomolecule(s) responsible for the fluorescence signal observed in step 2. These measurements also provided the lateral position of the particles relative to the laser excitation profile and the surrounding topography with nanometer-scale precision and the relationship between the spectroscopic and structural properties of the particles. Extension of these methods to the study of other types of nanostructured materials is discussed.  相似文献

Abstract

The unitary transformation induced by an optical element on polarisation vectors corresponds to a rotation of the associated vectors in polarisation space on the Poincaré sphere. The degree of violation of a Bell inequality, which is of central interest in discriminating between hidden variable and quantum theories, involves only scalar products in polarisation space, and so is invariant under joint transformation of the relevant polarisation vectors. Conventionally, the plane of polarisation of any analyser is switched by an angle ψ of, say, π/8. The same violation is predicted if, instead, the analyser switching is performed by adding a relative phase of 2ψ through field-dependent birefringence. As with recent optical demonstrations of the Berry phase, the doubling of the angle indicates the simplicity of a unified analysis of both types of switching in polarisation space.  相似文献

We have developed a threedimensional imaging laser radar featuring 3-cm range resolution and single-photon sensitivity. This prototype direct-detection laser radar employs compact, all-solid-state technology for the laser and detector array. The source is a Nd:YAG microchip laser that is diode pumped, passively Q-switched, and frequency doubled. The detector is a gated, passively quenched, two-dimensional array of silicon avalanche photodiodes operating in Geigermode. After describing the system in detail, we present a three-dimensional image, derive performance characteristics, and discuss our plans for future imaging three-dimensional laser radars.  相似文献

The design and operation of a proof-of-principle rectangular He-Ne ring laser resonator with a cavity perimeter of 77.0 m and an area of approximately 367 m2 are described. With unevacuated beam lines this device gave an Earth-induced Sagnac frequency of 1513 Hz, with a relative Allan deviation over 1000 s down to 3 parts per million. The Earth's rotation provided a bias that eliminated the lock-in susceptibility. The use of increased pressure in the plasma tube facilitated single-mode operation by increasing the homogeneous pressure-broadened linewidth.  相似文献
