A modification of the standard electrodiagnostic test was developed in an effort to provide a more sensitive electrodiagnostic evaluation in radial tunnel syndrome. Radial motor nerve latency recordings were obtained in 3 different forearm positions: neutral, passive supination, and passive pronation. The maximal difference in these recordings, the differential latency, in 25 patients with radial tunnel syndrome of greater than 6 months duration (test group) was compared with those in 25 asymptomatic volunteers (control group). Differential latency recordings were obtained in all patients in the test group before and after surgery. Radial nerves that were compressed demonstrated a significantly greater differential latency (0.44+/-0.12 ms) versus controls (0.12+/-0.008 ms). Following radial nerve decompression, differential motor latencies in the test group decreased below control values, demonstrating a resolution of the provoked electrical response with a postoperative differential latency of 0.07+/-0.05 ms. Our results demonstrate the differential motor latency of the radial nerve to be a sensitive electrodiagnostic tool in patients with radial tunnel syndrome. We report here a novel type of ceramidase of Pseudomonas aeruginosa AN17 isolated from the skin of a patient with atopic dermatitis. The enzyme was purified 83,400-fold with an overall yield of 21.1% from a culture supernatant of strain AN17. After being stained with a silver staining solution, the purified enzyme showed a single protein band, and its molecular mass was estimated to be 70 kDa on SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The enzyme showed quite wide specificity for various ceramides, i.e. it hydrolyzed ceramides containing C12:0-C18:0 fatty acids and 7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1, 3-diazole-labeled dodecanoic acid, and not only ceramide containing sphingosine (d18:1) or sphinganine (d18:0) but also phytosphingosine (t18:0) as the long-chain base. However, the enzyme did not hydrolyze galactosylceramide, sulfatide, GM1, or sphingomyelin, and thus was clearly distinguished from a Pseudomonas sphingolipid ceramide N-deacylase (Ito, M., Kurita, T., and Kita, K. (1995) J. Biol. Chem. 270, 24370-24374). This bacterial ceramidase had a pH optimum of 8.0-9.0, an apparent Km of 139 microM, and a Vmax of 5.3 micromol/min/mg using N-palmitoylsphingosine as the substrate. The enzyme appears to require Ca2+ for expression of the activity. Interestingly, the 70-kDa protein catalyzed a reversible reaction in which the N-acyl linkage of ceramide was either cleaved or synthesized. Bi0.5 Na0.5 TiO3 (BNT) and 0.94Bi0.5 Na0.5 TiO3 ·0.06BaTiO3 (BNT–BT) bulk ceramics with extensive 〈100〉 texture were prepared by the reactive-templated grain growth method, using platelike Bi4 Ti3 O12 (BIT) particles as templates for BNT. Calcined compacts were composed of matrix grains with random orientation and 〈100〉-oriented grains transformed from aligned BIT particles, and the texture developed by the growth of oriented grains during sintering. Ceramics with extensive texture were obtained by using the starting mixture containing the maximum concentration of platelike BIT to form the maximum volume fraction of oriented grains. 相似文献

The kinetics of the methanation of carbon dioxide was investigated using an alumina supported Ni-La2O2 catalyst in a differential and integral reactor. In the differential reactor the molar ratio of H2 to CO2 was varied from 0.6 to 30. In the integral reactor the rates were measured with up to 90% conversion. Both reactor tests were carried out at temperatures between 513 and 593 K. The experimental results were described by a Langmuir-Hinshelwood type equation. The kinetics can be explained by assuming equilibrium of dissociative carbon dioxide and hydrogen adsorption, and assuming hydrogenation of surface carbon as the rate determining step. 相似文献

The <110>-oriented BaTiO3 ceramics were fabricated using BaCO3 matrix and H1.08Ti1.73O4.nH2O (HTO) template particles, and the mechanism of BaTiO3 phase formation was investigated. The dielectric, ferroelectric, and piezoelectric properties were also investigated. The transformation of the HTO phase into the TiO2 bronze or TiO2 (B) phase was observed at 600°C, where the BaTiO3 nucleation was accompanied by the formation of a Ba2TiO4 phase. The TiO2 phase reacted with the Ba2TiO4 phase at 800°C to give a BaTiO3 phase, whereas its reaction with the BaTiO3 resulted in the formation of BaTi2O5 phase that got decomposed into BaTiO3 and Ba6Ti17O40 phase at sintering temperature ≥1300°C. Sintering with samples’ embedding in BaTiO3 powders prevented the formation of the Ba6Ti17O40 secondary phase. The crystallographic orientation along the <110> direction (F110) was developed by the epitaxial grain growth mechanism. In addition to the contribution of the grain-size increment for enhancing the F110, the preservation of the platelike structure was also found to have a significant impact. The ceramics prepared by the embedded sintering (grain size ≈12.4 µm and F110 = 83%) exhibited the room-temperature dielectric constant of 1708 and piezoelectric strain constant of 445 pm/V, which are higher than those of the BaTiO3 ceramics with randomly oriented grains. 相似文献

Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is used as a precision machining method for the electrically conductive hard materials with a soft electrode material. But recently we succeeded to machine on insulating material by EDM. The technology is named as an assisting electrode method. The EDMed surface is covered with the electrical conductive layer during discharge. The layer holds the electrical conductivity during discharge. For micro-EDM, the wear of tool electrode becomes lager ratio than the normal machining. So the micro-machining is extremely difficult to get the precision sample.
In this paper to obtain a fine and precise ceramics sample, some trials were carried out considering the EDM conditions, tool electrodes material and assisting electrode materials. Insulating Si3N4 ceramics were used for workpiece. The machining properties were estimated by the removal rate and tool wear ratio. To confirm the change of micro-machining process, the discharge waveforms were observed. The micro-machining of the Ø0.05 mm hole could be machined with the commercial sinking electrical discharge machine. 相似文献

A fundamental understanding of the diffusion phenomena of submonolayer polar liquid films is important for achieving reliable lubrication between moving mechanical parts separated by a nanometer-sized gap. To acquire this understanding, we conducted molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of diffusion phenomena of submonolayer polar perfluoropolyether (PFPE) Zdol films on solid surfaces. To improve the accuracy of these simulations, we developed an all-atom model that includes hydrogen-bond potential and refined atomic charges for Zdol molecules and tested it through MD simulations of spreading of step-shaped submonolayer PFPE films. Our MD simulations reproduced the experimentally observed effects of polar end groups on the diffusion speed and molecular conformation of Zdol. We then conducted MD simulations of self-diffusion of submonolayer Zdol films; these simulations demonstrated that as the thickness of the submonolayer Zdol films decreases, molecular conformation becomes flatter and the self-diffusion coefficient decreases. These changes in molecular conformation partially explain our experimental finding that the spreading of step-shaped submonolayer polar PFPE films slows down with decreasing initial thickness. 相似文献

This paper examines characteristics of interactive learning between human tutors and a robot having a dynamic neural-network model, which is inspired by human parietal cortex functions. A humanoid robot, with a recurrent neural network that has a hierarchical structure, learns to manipulate objects. Robots learn tasks in repeated self-trials with the assistance of human interaction, which provides physical guidance until the tasks are mastered and learning is consolidated within the neural networks. Experimental results and the analyses showed the following: 1) codevelopmental shaping of task behaviors stems from interactions between the robot and a tutor; 2) dynamic structures for articulating and sequencing of behavior primitives are self-organized in the hierarchically organized network; and 3) such structures can afford both generalization and context dependency in generating skilled behaviors. 相似文献

We adapt the technology acceptance model (TAM) to examine the factors influencing mobile gaming adoption among “global youth.” Our model replaces usefulness with convenience, incorporating visual appeal and escapism as antecedents of fun, and perceived novelty and economic value as antecedents of convenience. Questionnaire surveys were conducted in the U.S., Spain, and the Czech Republic, producing 432 usable responses. In the structural model assessment with the pooled sample, convenience exercises greater effects on attitude toward mobile games than fun, suggesting that the most important driver is probably the capability of being used flexibly at any time and in any place, rather than mere enjoyment.
