We establish a systematic methodology to design and analyse electromagnetic components such as advanced multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) using the finite element (FE) method. We employ a coupled formulation to compute the interaction between the electric and magnetic fields. Unlike a linear distribution of current assumed in the circuit model, an accurate electrostatic solution to model the entire advanced MLCCs (4 × 4 × 27 = 432 cells) is presented. The FE solution is used to compute the lumped parameters for a range of frequencies. These lumped parameters are then used to compute the parasitic elements of the MLCCs. We introduce two algorithms to efficiently analyse the behaviour of a capacitor with changing frequency. The lower frequency (much below the self‐resonant frequency of the capacitor) algorithm separates the effect of the electric and magnetic fields and reduces the computational effort required to solve the FE problem, whereas, the high‐frequency algorithm couples the effect between the electric and the magnetic fields. We use these algorithms in conjunction with a new multiple scale technique to effectively determine the small values of R, L and C in MLCCs. The formulation, the implementation, and the numerical results demonstrate the efficacy of the present FE formulation and establish a systematic methodology to design and analyse advanced electromagnetic components. Continuing the process of improvements made to TCP through the addition of new algorithms in Tahoe and Reno, TCP SACK aims to provide robustness to TCP in the presence of multiple losses from the same window. In this paper we present analytic models to estimate the latency and steady-state throughput of TCP Tahoe, Reno, and SACK and validate our models using both simulations and TCP traces collected from the Internet. In addition to being the first models for the latency of finite Tahoe and SACK flows, our model for the latency of TCP Reno gives a more accurate estimation of the transfer times than existing models. The improved accuracy is partly due to a more accurate modeling of the timeouts, evolution of cwnd during slow start and the delayed ACK timer. Our models also show that, under the losses introduced by the droptail queues which dominate most routers in the Internet, current implementations of SACK can fail to provide adequate protection against timeouts and a loss of roughly more than half the packets in a round will lead to timeouts. We also show that with independent losses SACK performs better than Tahoe and Reno and, as losses become correlated, Tahoe can outperform both Reno and SACK.  相似文献

Support effects form important aspect of hydrodesulfurization (HDS) studies and mixed oxide supports received maximum attention in the last two decades. This review will focus attention on studies on mixed oxide supported Mo and W catalysts. For convenience of discussion, these are divided into Al2O3 containing mixed oxide supports, TiO2 containing mixed oxide supports, ZrO2 containing mixed oxide supports and other mixed oxide supports containing all the rest. TiO2 containing mixed oxides received maximum attention, especially TiO2–Al2O3 supported catalysts. A brief discussion about their prospects for application to ultradeep desulfurization is also included. The switchable optical properties of Pd-protected RCo2-type Ho0.6Mm0.4Co2 alloy thin films have been investigated in a KOH electrolyte. The reversible optical switching has been carried out simultaneously by measuring transmitted light through the thin film during electrochemical charging–discharging of hydrogen. The dependence of switching speed and cyclic durability of the film on the charging and discharging current density as well as concentration of KOH electrolyte has been studied. In addition, cyclic voltammetric measurements have been performed to examine the hydride formation and decomposition reactions.  相似文献

The effect of various cytokines including rIL-1, rIL-2, rIL-3, rIL-4, rIL-6, and growth factors including rNGF, rILGF and rEPGF on the post transplant immunodeficiency after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation was explored in 8 patients. The results show that neither cytokine alone was able to increase the proliferative capability in post transplant lymphocytes, however, when added in conjunction a significant increase in PHA driven proliferation was noted. Any significant lack of growth factors is probably not the only cause of immunodeficiency post transplant, since addition of any of these compounds did not have any influence on the lymphocyte proliferation, and so the data presented here suggest that therapeutic application of any of the investigated cytokines or growth factors to such patients is unlikely to be successful in overcoming the defects of T cell function post grafting.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Stroke is the number 3 killer in Singapore and a common contributor to morbidity statistics. This study was done to look at the profile of patients with acute stroke presenting to the Emergency Department, Singapore General Hospital, from 1 October to 31 November 1996. The data will help plan and guide future early interventional trials as well as look into possible areas of improvement in the multidisciplinary approach to stroke. METHOD: This is a retrospective study and patients records were traced using ICD-9 codes. A total of 309 patients were identified for the period of review; of this, the records of 240 patients were obtained (77.7%). RESULTS: The results revealed that local stroke patients are young (two-thirds are < 70 years) and live in high-rise accommodation (84.2%) with their families. The predominant risk factor was hypertension (80%) and weakness was the most common presentation (25%). Stroke patients are presenting at a later stage (only 16.7% presented within 6 hours of onset) and the average length of hospital stay was between 10 and 12 days. CONCLUSION: This study identified the multiple measures at various stages of the stroke chain, required to build up a concerted effort against Brain Attack.  相似文献

The effect of addition of an inert liquid phase on the rate of heat generation in the catalytic synthesis of methanol from syngas has been studied. Gas compositions typical of product gases from Lurgi and Koppers-Totzek gasifiers, represented by H2-rich and CO-rich syngas respectively, were used to experimentally verify the “slope” and “dynamic” critria in a three-phase fixed bed recycle reactor. The liquid medium, witco-40 oil, has been effective in controlling the rate of heat generation and in preventing catalyst overheating, signifying that the liquid phase synthesis is thermally far more stable than the vapor phase synthesis. The experimental thermal stability study provides crucial and valuable information in commercializing the liquid phase methanol synthesis process. The current approach of thermal stability analysis does not require any a priori assumption or predetermined reaction kinetics.  相似文献

In this work, new experimental measurements of the minimum fluidization velocity and velocity-voidage characteristics are reported for a variety of liquid-particle systems in glass columns of two different diameters. Three types of liquids, namely, Newtonian, visco-inelastic, and visco-elastic fluids, were used to fluidize the beds of glass particles of four different sizes (1.27–15.8 mm). The results obtained with Newtonian liquids conform to the expected behaviour. The applicability of a variety of equations has been examined with a view to predicting the values of the minimum fluidization velocity and fluidization index for non-Newtonian systems. The experimental results reported herein embrace the following ranges of conditions: 1.27 < Dp < 15.8 mm; DT = 50.8 and 101.6 mm, and 0.382 n 1.00.  相似文献

ATM networks are quickly being adopted as backbones over various parts of the Internet. This article studies the dynamics and performance of the TCP/IP protocol over the ABR and UBR services of ATM networks. Specifically the buffering requirements in the ATM switches as well as the ATM edge devices. It is shown that with a good switch algorithm, ABR pushes congestion to the edges of the ATM network while UBR leaves it inside the ATM portion. As a result, the switch ABR buffer requirement for zero-packet-loss high-throughput TCP transmission is a sublinear function of the number of TCP connections  相似文献
