Nowadays multi-core processors can be found everywhere. It is well known that one way of improving performance is by parallelization. In this paper we propose a parallelization strategy for Java using algebraic laws. We perform an experiment with two benchmarks and show that our strategy produces a gain similar to a specialized parallel version provided by the Java Grande Benchmark (JGB).  相似文献

A promising mechanical bearing candidate for an active operation is the tilting-pad bearing. The proposed active tilting-pad bearing has linear actuators that radially translate each pad/pivot pair. The use of feedback control in determining the actuator forces allows for the automatic, continuous adjustment of the pad position during the operation of the rotating machine. In this paper, we develop a nonlinear dynamic model of the active bearing system. The hydrodynamic force produced by the fluid film is modeled as a nonlinear, squeeze-film damper plus repellent spring. A model-based nonlinear controller is then designed to exponentially regulate the rotor position to the origin. A proof-of-concept experiment shows that the active strategy improves the bearing performance relative to its traditional passive operation. Further, the experiment demonstrates that the model-based nonlinear control regulates the rotor comparably to a linear proportional integral derivative (PID) control, but requires significantly less control energy.  相似文献

Compound document images contain graphic or textual content along with pictures. They are a very common form of documents, found in magazines, brochures, Web sites, etc. We focus our attention on the mixed raster content (MRC) multilayer approach for compound image compression. We study block thresholding as a means to segment an image for MRC. An attempt is made to optimize the block threshold in a rate-distortion sense. Also, a fast algorithm is presented to approximate the optimized method. Extensive results are presented including rate-distortion curves, segmentation masks and reconstructed images, showing the performance of the proposed algorithm.  相似文献

A trypsin was purified from pyloric caeca of pirarucu (Arapaima gigas). The effect of metal ions and protease inhibitors on its activity and its physicochemical and kinetic properties, as well its N-terminal sequence, were determined. A single band (28.0 kDa) was observed by SDS–PAGE. Optimum pH and temperature were 9.0 and 65 °C, respectively. The enzyme was stable after incubation for 30 min in a wide pH range (6.0–11.5) and at 55 °C. The kinetic parameters Km, kcat and kcat/Km were 0.47 ± 0.042 mM, 1.33 s−1 and 2.82 s−1 mM−1, respectively, using BApNA as substrate. This activity was shown to be very sensitive to some metal ions, such as Fe2+, Hg2+, Zn2+, Al3+, Pb2+, and was highly inhibited by trypsin inhibitors. The trypsin N-terminal sequence IVGGYECPRNSVPYQ was found. The features of this alkaline peptidase suggest that it may have potential for industrial applications (e.g. food and detergent industries).  相似文献

Salmonella is presently one of the microorganisms of higher concern for food safety in poultry products. The present study examined the effect of feeding galactomannans from carob bean gum on nutrient digestibility and performance in chickens, and on the prevalence of Salmonella enterica var. Enteritidis in challenged animals. Four experiments were performed with either broiler or leghorn chickens, challenged with 106 CFU (colony-forming units) of S. Enteritidis at 1 day of life, and feeding carob bean gum at different concentrations (25, 50 or 100 g/kg, depending on the experiment), alone or in combination with β-mannanase, cellulase or α-galactosidase at 8.3 U/g; or feeding D-mannose at 25 g/kg, or depolymerized carob bean gum or guar gum at 100 mg/kg. Trials lasted 3 or 4 weeks. Body weight and feed intake were determined and feed conversion ratio calculated (feed:gain). Faeces were collected during the last week on trial for evaluation of nutrient balance (energy, lipids and protein), using chromium oxide as inert marker. Viscosity of the ileal content was also determined at the end of the second experiment. Salmonella presence in caeca was determined two and 3 weeks after challenge. Performance and nutritive value of diets were impaired in birds fed carob bean gum, with higher effect at higher inclusion rates. D-mannose impaired performance variables only whereas depolymerized gums did not affect bird performance or nutritive value of the diets. Of the enzymes tested, only β-mannanase significantly decreased the viscosity of the intestinal contents of birds fed carob bean gum and partly counteracted the impairment in bird performance and the reduction in the nutritive value of the diets. The number of Salmonella-positive birds varied among experiments and was lower in the third week post-challenge compared to the second week post-challenge. However, the reduction in the number of Salmonella-positive birds was more constant and marked when carob bean gum was present in the diet. The inclusion of carob bean gum in the diet of chickens at the high concentrations used in the present experiment reduced the presence of Salmonella in challenged birds, but it also impaired performance and nutrient digestibility. These impairments were partially counteracted by the addition of β-mannanase to the diet. Carob bean gum might be used to reduce the incidence of Salmonella in chickens, while its negative effects on performance and nutrient digestibility could be counteracted by β-mannanase.  相似文献

Kohonen Neural Network maps were used for exploratory analysis of Brazilian Pilsner beers. The input data consisted of the peak areas of the volatile profile compounds of samples obtained after headspace solid phase microextraction coupled to gas chromatography. The chromatographic peaks were identified as originating from compounds such as alcohols, esters, organic acids, phenolic compounds, ketone and others typically found in the headspace of such samples. Analysis of the Kohonen maps showed that the 20 different brands of beer could be grouped into six sets, with three of these sets having only one sample, according to the composition of their volatile fractions. The volatile species associated with the similarities and differences between each sample group were tentatively identified by mass spectrometry and their contributions to the grouping are discussed.  相似文献

The application of the photo-Fenton process to the treatment of saline wastewater contaminated with hydrocarbons is investigated. Aqueous saline solutions containing raw gasoline were used as a model oil-field-produced water. The dependence on concentrations of the following reagents has been appropriately evaluated: hydrogen peroxide (100-200 mM), iron ions (0.5-1 mM), and sodium chloride (200-2000 ppm). The reactions were monitored by measurement of the absorption spectra and total organic carbon (TOC). Experimental results demonstrate that the photo-Fenton process is feasible for the treatment of wastewaters containing hydrocarbons, even in the presence of high concentrations of salt. The effect of the salt in this process is described through a series of reactions. A simple feedforward neural network model was found to correlate well the observed data for the degradation process.  相似文献

The food industry demands new procedures and methods to produce minimally processed, ready to eat food with intact nutritional, taste, and flavor properties. The biopreservation and the use of both bacteriocins produced by lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and bacteriocinogenic strains as an alternative to substitute chemical antimicrobial for food preservation became increasingly important in the last two decades. When the new proposed natural preservatives techniques are applied, probiotics food can be obtained and, simultaneously, foodborne pathogens and spoilage contaminants can diminish. However, bacteriocins produced by LAB have a narrow antibacterial spectrum and are inactive against Gram-negative bacteria like Salmonella and the emergent enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli. Knowing the mechanism of action and the structural features of microcins synthesized by Gram-negative bacteria and with potent antimicrobial activity against the mentioned microorganism, the proposal is to obtain hybrid peptides (microcin–bacteriocin) with broad antimicrobial spectrum. This review explains how the inability of bacteriocins to cross the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria unable them to act on the bacteria. It will also be discussed how a hybrid bacteriocin can be obtained.  相似文献

This study describes the extraction and characterisation of cashew apple polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and the effect of wounding on cashew apple phenolic acid composition, PPO activity and fruit browning. Purification factor was 59 at 95% (NH4)2SO4 saturation. For PPO activity, the optimal substrate was catechol and the optimum pH was 6.5. PPO Km and Vmax values were 18.8 mM and 13.6 U min−1 ml−1, respectively. Ascorbic acid, citric acid, sodium sulphite and sodium metabisulphite decreased PPO activity, while sodium chloride increased PPO activity. Wounding at 2 °C and 27 °C for 24 h increased PPO activity but storage at 40 °C reduced PPO activity. Gallic acid, protocatechuic acid and cinnamic acid (free and conjugate) were identified in cashew apple juice. Cutting and subsequent storage at 40 °C hydrolysed cinnamic acid. 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural content in cashew apple juice increased after injury and storage at higher temperatures, indicating non-enzymatic browning.  相似文献
