A computationally efficient and accurate frequency estimation and tracking algorithm is proposed, based on the adaptive frequency estimator (AFE) of Etter and Hush. A Lagrange interpolator (a fractional delay filter) is used to estimate the gradient of the performance surface of the adaptation, which enables highly accurate estimation. We have previously shown that the tumor suppressor gene for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) without cirrhosis may be located on chromosome 5q35-qter. In this study, we analyzed nine cases of primary HCC without cirrhosis using probes from the MCC and APC genes, which are in the region 5q21-22. None of the informative cases had allele loss detected by these probes, whereas the probe lambda MS8 for the region 5q35-qter showed allele loss in six out of six informative cases. The results confirm that the putative tumor suppressor gene for HCC without cirrhosis on chromosome 5q is distinct from the MCC and APC genes. 相似文献

For two low‐density polyethylenes and two polystyrenes, axisymmetric and planar elongational viscosities are estimated using entrance loss data from capillary and slit rheometers, respectively. The elongational viscosity is estimated by optimizing the values of various parameters in the Sarkar–Gupta elongational viscosity model such that the entrance loss predicted by a finite element simulation agrees with the corresponding experimental data. The predicted entrance loss is in good agreement with the experimental data at high flow rates. The difference in the experimental and predicted entrance loss at lower flow rates might have been caused by large error in the experimental data in this range. POLYM. ENG. The adsorption and thermal analysis of 1-propanamine has been compared over MFI zeolites which contain H, Ga, and In cations. In the case of H+-containing materials, NH3 and propene are simultaneously desorbed above 600 K. This behavior, is well known and characteristic of the Hofmann elimination reaction. However, a distinctly different mode of reaction is observed in the case of Ga and In containing materials. NH3 is released below 600 K, propene and other products are released above 600 K, and a stable residue remains above 800 K. Prediction markets, also known as information or decision markets, are designed to forecast future events or trends. Internet-based prediction markets can easily aggregate the insights of an unlimited number of potentially knowledgeable people asynchronously. The Tech Buzz Game - a joint venture between Yahoo! Research Labs and O'Reilly Media - is a fantasy prediction market launched in March 2005 at the O'Reilly Emerging Technology (ETech) Conference. The game consists of multiple sub-markets that pit a handful of rival technologies, each represented by a stock, against one another. The game's object is to anticipate future search buzz and buy and sell stocks accordingly. Thus, a player who believes BitTorrent stock is undervalued might buy shares, while a player who thinks BitTorrent is overpriced might sell the stock or instead purchase shares in a competing peer-to-peer technology. The Tech Buzz Game serves two key research-oriented goals. One is to evaluate the power of prediction markets to forecast high-tech trends. Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) are ideal reinforcing agents for polymer nanocomposites because they are lightweight and nano‐sized with a large aspect ratio and high elastic modulus. To overcome the poor compatibility of hydrophilic CNCs in non‐polar composite matrices, we grafted poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) from the surface of CNCs using an aqueous, one‐pot, free radical polymerization method with ceric ammonium nitrate as the initiator. The hybrid nanoparticles were characterized by CP/MAS NMR, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, contact angle, thermogravimetric analysis, X‐ray diffraction, and atomic force microscopy. Spectroscopy demonstrates that 0.11 g/g (11 wt %) PMMA is grafted from the CNC surface, giving PMMA‐g‐CNCs, which are similar in size and crystallinity to unmodified CNCs but have an onset of thermal degradation 45 °C lower. Nanocomposites were prepared by compounding unmodified CNCs and PMMA‐g‐CNCs (0.0025–0.02 g/g (0.25–2 wt %) loading) with PMMA using melt mixing and wet ball milling. CNCs improved the performance of melt‐mixed nanocomposites at 0.02 g/g (2 wt %) loading compared to the PMMA control, while lower loadings of CNCs and all loadings of PMMA‐g‐CNCs did not. The difference in Young's modulus between unmodified CNC and polymer‐grafted CNC composites was generally insignificant. Overall, ball‐milled composites had inferior mechanical and rheological properties compared to melt‐mixed composites. Scanning electron microscopy showed aggregation in the samples with CNCs, but more pronounced aggregation with PMMA‐g‐CNCs. Despite improving interfacial compatibility between the nanoparticles and the matrix, the effect of PMMA‐g‐CNC aggregation and decreased thermal stability dominated the composite performance. 相似文献

Industry has recognized that effective use of automated diagnostic software can greatly enhance process quality and productivity. Simultaneously, significant advances have been made in the technologies of process modelling, using techniques such as neural networks, regression methods, and various analytical approaches. Here we will present a simple method to perform model-based diagnosis. The method is simple to implement, intuitively appealing, and requires information that should be standardly available. The method requires as input current process data, set-point information, and a predictive process model, and outputs a table of diagnostic scores which indicate the likelihood of a particular factor being the cause of an observed special cause on a statistical process control chart. 相似文献
