Odd-Excited Binomial States of the Radiation Field and Some of Their Statistical Properties

In this paper a new state called odd-excited binomial state (OEBS) is introduced. It interpolates between the odd number state and the odd-excited coherent state. We discuss some statistical properties, such as the Glauber second-order correlation function and squeezing phenomenon (normal and amplitude-squared squeezing) for this state. The quasiprobability distribution functions (Husimi Q-function and Wigner W-function) are also examined.     

Synthesis,characterization, X-ray structural analysis and study of oxidative properties of propyltriphenylphosphonium bromochromate

The complex of propyltriphenylphosphonium bromochromate(VI), PrPh₃P[CrO₃Br] is easily synthesized in nearly quantitative yield using a direct reaction of chromium(VI) oxide and propyltriphenylphosphonium bromide. This compound is a versatile reagent for the efficient and selective oxidation of organic substrates, in particular for alcohols to their corresponding aldehydes or ketones, under mild conditions. This compound was characterized by IR, UV/Visible, ¹³C-n.m.r. and ¹H-n.m.r. techniques. It crystallized in the monoclinic form and its crystal and molecular structure have been determined by X-ray crystallography.     

60]- and [70]Fullerenes are trifluoromethylated across 5:6-bonds

Trifluoromethylation of [60]- and [70]fullerenes occurs across both 6:6- and 5:6-bonds giving unsymmetrical tetramethyl adducts having four contiguous CF3 groups; both fullerenes give bis adducts which do not involve 6:6-addition, and unsymmetrical hexa-adducts (with contiguous CF3 groups) are also obtained from [60]fullerene.     

Electroanalysis with tungsten electrodes : I. The tungsten/platinum bimetallic pair in potentiometry at zero current

The W/Pt bimetallic pair has been applied in various potentiometric titrations. Except for the neutralization of dicarboxylic acids, e.g., oxalic, the pair is suitable for neutralization titrations where ΔE/ΔV values at the equivalence point are higher on W than on Pt. Tungsten oxides increase the inflexion pd. The pair is also suitable for oxidation/reduction titrations using permanganate, dichromate, and ceric sulfate, and for precipitation reactions with silver nitrate. However, it gives a small inflexion pd in the oxidation of thiosulfate by iodine. EDTA titrations of copper, magnesium, and calcium give a sharp inflexion in the case of copper only. This pair may be useful in routine analyses requiring a robust electrode assembly but not a high degree of accuracy.     

Europium-sensitized luminescence determination of oxytetracycline in catfish muscle

An europium-sensitized time-resolved luminescence (TRL) method was developed to determine oxytetracycline (OTC) in cultivated catfish muscle. Extraction of OTC from fish muscle was performed with pH 4.0 ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)-McIlvaine buffer and clean up with hydrophilic-lipophilic balanced copolymer solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridges. The eluate was used without further concentration for TRL measurement in pH 9.0 micellar tris(hydroxylmethyl)aminomethane (TRIS) buffer. Cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTACl) was used as surfactant and EDTA as a co-ligand. The excitation and emission wavelengths were set at 388 and 615 nm, respectively. The linear dynamic range was 0-1000 ng g⁻¹ (R²=0.9995). The recovery was 92-112% in the fortification range of 50-200 ng g⁻¹ and the limits of detection (LOD) ranged from 3 to 7 ng g⁻¹. Incurred catfish samples were used to demonstrate the performance of the method around 100 ng g⁻¹, the European Union maximum residue level.     

Synthesis and Structure Elucidation of Novel Spirooxindole Linked to Ferrocene and Triazole Systems via [3 + 2] Cycloaddition Reaction

In the present work, a novel heterocyclic hybrid of a spirooxindole system was synthesized via the attachment of ferrocene and triazole motifs into an azomethine ylide by [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction protocol. The X-ray structure of the heterocyclic hybrid (1″R,2″S,3R)-2″-(1-(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl)-5-methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carbonyl)-5-methyl-1″-(ferrocin-2-yl)-1″,2″,5″,6″,7″,7a″-hexahydrospiro[indoline-3,3″-pyrrolizin]-2-one revealed very well the expected structure, by using different analytical tools (FTIR and NMR spectroscopy). It crystallized in the triclinic-crystal system and the P-1-space group. The unit cell parameters are a = 9.1442(2) Å, b = 12.0872(3) Å, c = 14.1223(4) Å, α = 102.1700(10)°, β = 97.4190(10)°, γ = 99.1600(10)°, and V = 1484.81(7) ų. There are two molecules per unit cell and one formula unit per asymmetric unit. Hirshfeld analysis was used to study the molecular packing of the heterocyclic hybrid. H···H (50.8%), H···C (14.2%), Cl···H (8.9%), O···H (7.3%), and N···H (5.1%) are the most dominant intermolecular contacts in the crystal structure. O···H, N···H, H···C, F···H, F···C, and O···O are the only contacts that have the characteristic features of short and significant interactions. AIM study indicated predominant covalent characters for the Fe–C interactions. Also, the electron density (ρ(r)) at the bond critical point correlated inversely with the Fe–C distances.     

Solvent selection in ultrasonic-assisted emulsification microextraction: Comparison between high- and low-density solvents by means of novel type of extraction vessel

There are numerous published reports about dispersive liquid phase microextraction of the wide range of substances, however, till now no broadly accepted systematic and purpose oriented selection of extraction solvent has been proposed. Most works deal with the optimization of available solvents without adequate pre-consideration of properness. In this study, it is tried to compare the performances of low- and high-density solvents at the same conditions by means of novel type of extraction vessel with head and bottom conical shape. Extraction efficiencies of seven basic pharmaceutical compounds using eighteen common organic solvents were studied in this work. It was much easier to work with high-density solvents and they mostly showed better performances. This work shows that although exact predicting the performance of the solvents is multifaceted case but the pre-consideration of initial selection of solvents with attention to the physiochemical properties of the desired analytes is feasible and promising. Finally, the practicality of the method for extraction from urine and plasma samples was investigated.     

Study of Interactions Between Sugammadex and Penicillins Using Affinity Capillary Electrophoresis

Sugammadex, a new modified gamma cyclodextrin, reverses the neuromuscular blockage induced by rocuronium by forming a strong complex with this muscle relaxant. To evaluate possible interactions with potentially co-administered drugs, interactions between sugammadex and penicillins were investigated using the affinity capillary electrophoresis method for the first time. Capillary electrophoresis coupled to an ultra violet detector was used as an analytical device for the analysis and detection of cyclodextrin inclusion complexes. Changes in the effective mobility of guest drugs (amoxicillin, ampicillin, oxacillin, dicloxacillin and azlocillin) were correlated with the increasing concentration of host molecules in background electrolyte, and successfully fitted into a non-linear curve equation; assuming 1:1 stoichiometric interaction. The calculated association constants (K _a) were: 383.44, 184.54, 265.34 and 95.06 M⁻¹ for amoxicillin, ampicillin, oxacillin and dicloxacillin, respectively. No complex formation with sugammadex could be detected for both penicillin G and piperacillin. The difference in the chemical structure of the penicillins, especially in the (R) side chains, is suggested to be responsible for the variety of binding strength between penicillins and sugammadex. The displacement study demonstrated that interactions between sugammadex and co-administered penicillins could reduce the pharmacological effects of both.
