The results of a wire chamber spectrometer experiment studying 1 (890) production in the reaction K?p→ K?π+n at 13 GeV are presented. Strong forward structure is observed for |t|< m2π in the s-channel density matrix elements and differential cross section. These features are similar to those observed in π?p→?0n data and are characteristics of π exchange. In contrast in the intermediate, |t| ~ 0.2 GeV2, and large momentum transfer regions 1 (890) production is demonstrated by the natural parity ??A2 exchange contribution. 相似文献

We present the results of a photoelectron imaging study of the I(-)·(CH(3)I)(2) cluster anion over excitation wavelengths 355-260 nm. The resulting spectra and photoelectron angular distributions (PADs) suggest extensive electron-molecule interaction following photoexcitation. Fragmentation channels are observed subsequent to excitation between 355 and 330 nm. The origin of these features, which begin 200 meV and peak 70 meV below the X band direct detachment threshold, is described in terms of a predissociative dipole bound state. The nature of the fragments detected and the energetics of the channel opening argue strongly in favor of an asymmetric, head to tail cluster anion geometry posited by Dessent et al. [Acc. Chem. Res. 31, 527 (1998)]. Above the direct detachment threshold, PADs display evidence of phenomena akin to electron-molecule scattering. The fragment anions disappear above the X band threshold but reappear some distance below the second (A) direct detachment band. At these energies there is also rapid variation of the X band PAD, an observation attributed to autodetachment via spin-orbit relaxation of the iodine core of the cluster. 相似文献

We report the first direct measurements of total absorption of short laser pulses on solid targets in the ultrarelativistic regime. The data show an enhanced absorption at intensities above 10(20) W/cm(2), reaching 60% for near-normal incidence and 80%-90% for 45 degrees incidence. Two-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations demonstrate that such high absorption is consistent with both interaction with preplasma and hole boring by the intense laser pulse. A large redshift in the second harmonic indicates a surface recession velocity of 0.035c. 相似文献

The general atomic and molecular electronic structure system (GAMESS) is a quantum chemistry package used in the first-principles modeling of complex molecular systems using density functional theory (DFT) as well as a number of other post-Hartree-Fock methods. Both DFT and time-dependent DFT (TDDFT) are of particular interest to the materials modeling community. Millions of CPU hours per year are expended by GAMESS calculations on high-performance computing systems; any substantial reduction in the time-to-solution for these calculations represents a significant saving in CPU hours. As part of this work, three areas for improvement were identified: (1) the exchange-correlation (XC) integration grid, (2) profiling and optimization of the DFT code, and (3) TDDFT parallelization. We summarize the work performed in these task areas and present the resulting performance improvement. These software enhancements are available in 12JAN2009R3 or later versions of GAMESS. 相似文献

An intense collimated beam of high-energy protons is emitted normal to the rear surface of thin solid targets irradiated at 1 PW power and peak intensity 3x10(20) W cm(-2). Up to 48 J ( 12%) of the laser energy is transferred to 2x10(13) protons of energy >10 MeV. The energy spectrum exhibits a sharp high-energy cutoff as high as 58 MeV on the axis of the beam which decreases in energy with increasing off axis angle. Proton induced nuclear processes have been observed and used to characterize the beam. 相似文献
