Gem-dinitro compounds in organic synthesis. 4. Use of the condensation product of glyoxal and dinitromethane in the synthesis of nitro-1,2,3-triazoles

The condensation of dinitromethane with glyoxal has been investigated and it has been demonstrated that 1,1,4,4-tetranitro-2,3-butandiol, -hydroxy-,-dinitropropionic acid or their mixture may be formed. Interaction of 1,1,4,4-tetranitro-2,3-butandiol or 1,4-dibromo-1,1,4,4-tetranitro-2,3-butanediol diacetates with sodium azide leads to bis(5-nitro-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl) via intermediate 1,1,4,4-tetranitro-1,3-butadiene.For communication 3, see [1].N. On sets of integers with prescribed gaps

For a fixed setI of positive integers we consider the set of paths (p _o,...,p _k ) of arbitrary length satisfyingp _l –p _l–1I forl=2,...,k andp ₀=1,p _k =n. Equipping it with the uniform distribution, the random path lengthT _n is studied. Asymptotic expansions of the moments ofT _n are derived and its asymptotic normality is proved. The step lengthsp _l –p _l–1 are seen to follow asymptotically a restricted geometrical distribution. Analogous results are given for the free boundary case in which the values ofp ₀ andp _k are not specified. In the special caseI={m+1,m+2,...} (for some fixed m) we derive the exact distribution of a random m-gap subset of {1,...,n} and exhibit some connections to the theory of representations of natural numbers. A simple mechanism for generating a randomm-gap subset is also presented.     

Stereochemistry of Seven-membered Heterocycles: XLIV. Spatial Structure of 4-R-3,5-Dioxabicyclo[5.1.0]octanes

4-R-3,5-Dioxabicyclo[5.1.0]octanes were prepared in good yields by reduction of the corresponding 8,8-dichloro derivatives in a system Li-t-BuOH. According to the data of dynamic ¹H and ¹³CNMR spectroscopy involving experiments in the NOESY mode the formal (R = H) at −93°C in (CD₃)₂CO exists in nearly equally occupied chair forms with endo- and exo-oriented three-membered ring. The like structure were found in the diastereomeric 4-Me(t-Bu)-analogs. The characteristic feature of ¹³C NMR spectra consists in considerable difference in the chemical shifts of the C⁸ atoms (Δδ∼16–17 ppm). E-cadherin expression is biochemical marker in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia

The expression of E-cadherin has been investigated by the immunohistochemical method. The expression of E-cadherin is considered as a biomarker of junctions of intercellular adhesion in tissues samples with cervical intraepithelial neoplasias. The quantitative avidin-biotin-peroxidase method was used to estimate the expression. Precancer lesions, i.e., cervical intraepithelial neoplasias, CIN 1, 2, 3, precede invasive cancer of the cervix uteri by several years, the prognosis of which is variable in terms of regression and progression into invasive cancer. The expression of E-cadherin has been analyzed in cervical tissues of patients with various grades of CIN and microinvasive cancer (81 samples), as well as patients without CIN (ten samples). The sharp, statistically significant decrease in the expression of E-cadherin in CIN3 has been recorded compared to CIN1, CIN2, and the normal epithelium. It is reasonable to use this marker to assess the grade of the lesion and develop an individual prognosis of CIN progression. The data present a new way to construct pharmaceuticals based on compounds that influence E-cadherin expression.     

Electret-thermal and dielectric analyses of electrically active colloids

The nature and mechanism of interfacial electrical interaction in organic colloids containing an active solid phase and a polar liquid phase are studied. Such systems are shown to offer specific properties. Specifically, high electrical forces producing gradients of the potential of the self-electric internal field arise at the liquid-solid interface. In the presence of free charges and ionic conductivity channels, this field can induce currents in such systems. When investigating the colloid system of the human venous blood, it is found that the internal field causes mesoscopic inhomogeneity in the structure of the aqueous components of the plasma and cytoplasm. It is shown that the concentration of free water molecules in the liquid phase of the system is maximal in group I blood and the physically nonuniform properties of combined water show up to the greatest extent in group IV blood. This finding is corroborated by the dispersion of the dielectric polarization in blood of different groups.     

Immunoliposomes and their targets

Immunoliposomes have been actively studied over the past two decades. However, researcher’s attention has still been limited to intensive preclinical trials and no one immunoliposomal formulation has passed clinical trials. This fact can be explained by a fear of complications, when mouse monoclonal antibodies are used as delivery vehicles. The situation has radically changed over the past few years. Nonimmunogenic single-chain antibodies have become an accessible research tool. Moreover, antibodies can be easily modified and conjugated with liposomes. Therefore, a vigorous breakthrough in the field of development of newgeneration immuno-liposomal formulations for oncological practice can be expected.     

N-Confused Phlorin-Prodigiosin Chimera: meso-Aryl Oxidation and π-Extension Triggered by Peripheral Coordination

An N-confused phlorin isomer bearing a dipyrrin moiety at the α-position of the confused pyrrole ring ( 1 ) was synthesized. Pd^II and B^III coordination at the peripheral prodigiosin-like moiety of 1 afforded the corresponding complexes 2 and 3 . Reflux of 2 in triethylamine (TEA) converted the meso-phenyl into the Pd^II-coordinating phenoxy group to afford 4 . Under the same reaction conditions, TEA was linked to the α-position of the dipyrrin unit in 3 as an N,N-diethylaminovinyl group to afford 5 . Furthermore, peripheral coordination of B^III in 3 and 5 improved the planarity of the phlorin macrocycle and thus facilitated the coordination of Ag^III at the inner cavity to afford 3-Ag and 5-Ag , respectively. These results provide an effective approach for developing unique porphyrinoids through peripheral coordination.
