Parameters and Technology for Fabricating PIK Reactor Fuel Elements

The construction of the fuel elements of a high-flux PIK research reactor is described. The technological tolerances in the process of fuel-element fabrication are presented. The basic geometric and mass parameters of several standard batches of fabricated fuel elements are determined experimentally. Statistical analysis of the experimental data shows that the deviations in the main parameters fall within the limits of the indicated technological tolerances and are described by a Gaussian distribution to a high degree of accuracy.     

Accessory artificial circulation in complex treatment of experimental acute toxic pulmonary edema

In experiments on 50 dogs with toxic acute edema of the lung, induced with intravenous injection of 0.1% silver nitrate, the authors have studied the efficacy of accessory artificial circulation and "conservative" therapy. During the perfusion a discharge of the right portions, adequate extracorporeal gas metabolism, normalization of blood gas and acid-base balance were noted; an intensity of pulmonary edema is descreased. An intensive therapy for pulmonary edema was found to be more effective in association of "conservative" treatment with venoarterial perfusion and blood oxygenation.     

Electrical erosion of W(Mo)-Cu composition in electrospark machining a hard alloy in a carbon-bearing liquid. II. Concentration dependence of wear and removal rate

Conclusions The concentration dependences of relative wear and productivity of the tungsten-copper and molybdenum-pseudoalloys in electrospark machining VK20 hard alloy were constructed. These dependences are characterized by the extreme values and are explained by the mechanism of their erosion (described in report 1) in the carbon-bearing liquid with an allowance made for the formation of a mixture of refractory metal and its carbide on the working surface.Translated from Poroshkovaya Metallurgiya, No. 2(302), pp. 78–81, February, 1988.
