The bounded disorder file organization proposed by W. Litwin and D.B. Lomet (1987) uses a combination of hashing and tree indexing. Lomet provided an approximate analysis with the mention of the difficulty involved in exact modeling of data nodes, which motivated this work. In an earlier paper (M.V. Ramakrishna and P. Mukhopadhyay, 1988) we provided an exact model and analysis of the data nodes, which is based on the solution of a classical sequential occupancy problem. After summarizing the analysis of data nodes, an alternate file growth method based on repeated trials using universal hashing is proposed and analyzed. Se2-based solar cells produced in the laboratory have been reported with efficiencies up to 18.8%. This success at achieving high-efficiency devices has stimulated a parallel research effort to produce large-area modules based on the use of CuGa
x
In1–x
Se2 with reduced cost of production. One method that has potential to achieve these objectives is chemical spray pyrolysis. Preliminary studies have resulted in devices with efficiencies of 4–5%. Further improvements toward implementing higher-efficiency devices are expected to result from a better understanding of the physical and chemical properties of the chalcopyrite layers produced. In this work we have investigated, for the first time, the properties of these layers using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to identify the secondary phases and residual impurities present. The layers studied were for In/Ga mole ratios of x=0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 in CuGa
x
In1–x

In this paper, experimental results involving the effect of stress and temperature on creep behaviour of induction pressure welded (IPW) 2·25Cr-1Mo steel are presented. Creep rupture tests were conducted at 550–700°C in steps of 50°C over a stress range of 112·5–180 MPa. Above 650°C failure of the specimen was enhanced due to the microstructural instability. Failure in the specimens occurred invariably in the heat affected zones (HAZ), and the fracture surfaces indicated ductile failure. 相似文献

Polymer systems have typical multiscale characteristics, both in space and time. The mesoscopic properties of polymers are difficult to describe through traditional experimental approaches. Dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) is a simulation method used for solving mesoscale problems of complex fluids and soft matter. The mesoscopic properties of polymer systems, such as conformation, dynamics, and transport properties, have been studied extensively using DPD. This paper briefly summarizes the application of DPD to research involving microchannel flow, electrospinning, free-radical polymerization, polymer self-assembly processes, polymer electrolyte fuel cells, and biomedical materials. The role of an interfacial carbon coating in the heat conduction behavior of a uniaxial silicon carbide nitride was investigated. For such a composite without an interfacial carbon coating the values for the thermal conductivity transverse to the fiber direction agreed very well with the values calculated from composite theory using experimental data parallel to the fiber direction, regardless of the ambient atmosphere. However, for a composite made with carbon-coated fibers the experimental values for the thermal conductivity transverse to the fiber direction under vacuum at room temperature were about a factor of 2 lower than those calculated from composite theory assuming perfect interfacial thermal contact. This discrepancy was attributed to the formation of an interfacial gap, resulting from the thermal expansion mismatch between the fibers and the matrix in combination with the low adhesive strength of the carbon coating. In nitrogen or helium the thermal conductivity was found to be higher because of the contribution of gaseous conduction across the interfacial gap. On switching from vacuum to nitrogen a transient effect in the thermal diffusivity was observed, attributed to the diffusion-limited entry of the gas phase into the interfacial gap. These effects decreased with increasing temperature, due to gap closure, to be virtually absent at 1000°C. 相似文献

Flyash, a waste product generated in large quantities in thermal power plants, has been posing problems of disposal. The purpose of the present work was to make a meaningful utilization of flyash as filler in neat epoxy resin matrix and 2% Polybutyleneterepthalate (PBT)/epoxy blend matrix. For this purpose, the tensile, flexural, compression, impact, chemical resistance, and water absorption properties were studied. Composites were made with varying proportion of flyash in epoxy resin and 2% PBT/epoxy blend matrix. Tensile, flexural, and compression properties were measured on a computerized universal testing machine, according to ASTM procedures. Impact strength was determined using izod impact tester for un‐notched specimens. PBT (2%)/epoxy blend matrix composites showed improved mechanical properties over neat epoxy flyash composites. All the composites were found to have good chemical resistance toward acids, solvents, and alkalies. These composites showed better water resistance over neat epoxy flyash composites. POLYM. ENG. In order to supplement the literature data on VLE, isobaric bubble temperature data were collected for the binary systems phenol-i-amyl alcohol and phenol-n-amyl alcohol over the entire composition range by indirect method using a standard Swietoslawski type ebulliometer. The measurements were made at three sub-atmospheric pressures. The experimental t-x data were correlated with both equation of state method and gamma-phi methods. The content and positional distribution of CLA in TAG fractions of lamb tissues was examined with either preformed CLA or
the linoleic acid precursor of CLA in the diet as experimental treatments. The CLA content of phospholipid (PL) from these
tissues was also examined. Thirteen lambs were randomized to the following dietary treatments: (i) control diet (no supplement);
(ii) CLA supplementation (0.33 g d−1 for 21 d prior to weaning) to milk-replacer of pre-ruminating lambs, or (iii) feeding linoleic acid-rich oil (6% safflower
oil on a dry matter basis) to weaned ruminating lambs. At slaughter, tissue samples were procured from diaphragm, rib muscle,
and subcutaneous (SC) adipose tissue. Safflower oil supplementation in the diet resulted in an increase in CLA content of
the TAG from diaphragm, rib muscle, and SC adipose tissue by about threefold (P<0.05) on a mol% basis. CLA was localized to the sn-1/3 positions of TAG. Animals that received pre-formed CLA, however, had increased proportions of CLA at the sn-2 position of TAG from SC adipose tissue, suggesting that there were tissue-specific dietary effects and possible age-related
effects on the mode of FA incorporation into TAG. Safflower oil supplementation in the diet had no effect on the CLA content
of PL from diaphragm, rib muscle, and SC adipose tissue, suggesting that CLA was preferentially incorporated into the TAG
