Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to translate and to cross-culturally adapt the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT) into Persian language and to evaluate its psychometric properties.

Method: The International Quality of Life Assessment process was pursued to translate CAIT into Persian. Two groups of Persian-speaking individuals, 105 participants with a history of ankle sprain and 30 participants with no history of ankle sprain, were asked to fill out Persian version of CAIT (CAIT-P), Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM), and Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Data obtained from the first administration of CAIT were used to evaluate floor and ceiling effects, internal consistency, dimensionality, and criterion validity. To determine the test–retest reliability, 45 individuals re-filled CAIT 5–7 days after the first session.

Results: Cronbach’s alpha was over the cutoff point of 0.70 for both ankles and in both groups. The intra-class correlation coefficient was high for right (0.95) and left (0.91) ankles. There was a strong correlation between each item and the total score of the CAIT-P. Although the CAIT-P had strong correlation with VAS, its correlation with both subscales of FAAM was moderate.

Conclusions: The CAIT-P has good validity and reliability and it can be used by clinicians and researchers for identification and investigation of functional ankle instability.

  • Implications for Rehabilitation
  • Chronic ankle instability is one of the most common consequences of acute ankle sprain.

  • Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool is an acceptable measure to determine functional ankle instability and its severity.

  • The Persian version of Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool is a valid and reliable tool for clinical and research purpose in Persian-speaking individuals.

To assess imaging data in COVID-19 patients and its association with clinical course and survival and 86 consecutive patients (52 males, 34 females, mean age?=?58.8 year) with documented COVID-19 infection were included. Seventy-eight patients (91%) were in severe stage of the disease. All patients underwent transthoracic echocardiography. Mean LVEF was 48.1% and mean estimated systolic pulmonary artery pressure (sPAP) was 27.9 mmHg. LV diastolic dysfunction was mildly abnormal in 49 patients (57.6%) and moderately abnormal in 7 cases (8.2%). Pericardial effusion was present in 5/86 (minimal in size in 3 cases and mild- moderate in 2). In 32/86 cases (37.2%), the severity of infection progressed from “severe” to “critical”. Eleven patients (12.8%) died. sPAP and computed tomography score were associated with disease progression (P value?=?0.002, 0.002 respectively). Tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) was significantly higher in patients with no disease progression compared with those who deteriorated (P value?=?0.005). Pericardial effusion (minimal, mild or moderate) was detected more often in progressive disease (P?=?0.03). sPAP was significantly lower among survivors (P value?=?0.007). Echocardiographic findings (including systolic PAP, TAPSE and pericardial effusion), total CT score may have prognostic and therapeutic implication in COVID-19 patients.

The World Health Organization has recommended the integration of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) with modern medicine, as part of the global “health for all” approach. Herbal treatments are the most common and known methods of CAM. Based on the critical role of physicians in true and safe application of these products, this research evaluated knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of physicians in Rasht towards herbal remedies. This was a cross sectional study, performed between April 2017 and May 2019 on all physicians, who worked in Rasht city, northern Iran. A researcher-made questionnaire with 2 main parts, including a demographics section and research questions was used. A total of 142 (38%) individuals responded to the questionnaires. Mean KAP scores were 6.47 ± 6.17, 27.80 ± 3.26, and 5.02 ± 5.54, respectively. In none of these fields, significant differences were seen in participants regarding demographic variables, experience, work place, academic relevance, and field of work (P > .05). Physicians of Rasht city, with different work environments and regardless of demographic characteristics, had a positive view towards herbal remedies, without enough knowledge to consult their patients.  相似文献

ObjectivesThis study investigated the relationship between sleep quality during pregnancy and preterm birth.MethodsThis longitudinal study was conducted between August 2018 and May 2019. The participants were 150 pregnant women who had been referred to 7 healthcare centers in the city of Qazvin, Iran and met the inclusion criteria. The Petersburg Sleep Quality Index, the Epworth Sleepiness Scale, and 2 questions about daytime sleep status and a demographic questionnaire were administered at 14-18 weeks and 28-32 weeks of gestation. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test, the Fisher exact test, and univariate and multivariable logistic regression.ResultsIn the present study, poor sleep quality affected 84.7% of the participants at 14-18 weeks and 93.3% at 28-32 weeks of gestation. The final model for preterm birth prediction incorporated age and the Petersburg Sleep Quality Index score in the second and third trimesters. Preterm birth increased by 14% with each unit increase in age. With each unit increase in the Petersburg Sleep Quality Index score in the second and third trimesters, preterm birth increased by 42% and 28%, respectively, but the p-values of these factors were not significant.ConclusionsAlthough a significant percentage of pregnant women had poor sleep quality, no significant relationship was found between sleep quality during pregnancy and preterm birth.  相似文献

IntroductionAlthough the maxillary first molar (MFM) has been frequently subjected to stress analysis in endodontic investigations, the available data about the effect of its oblique ridge are quite sparse. The aim of this study includes evaluating the effect of the residual oblique ridge on the stress distribution after preparing conservative access cavities.MethodsBased on the cone-beam computed tomographic data, the model of an intact MFM and 5 cavity designs were prepared for endodontic treatment, which were consequently filled with gutta-percha and dental resin composite (6 total models). All models were subjected to 4 types of occlusal loading; finite element analysis via ABAQUS CAE software (Dassault Systemes, Vélizy-Villacoublay, France) was accomplished, whereas other software programs such as (Mimics Research Materialise, Leuven, Belgium) and 3-Matic Research (Materialise) were also incorporated in different stages for detecting stress distribution.ResultsThe stress distribution on the MFM is not only dependent on the remaining width of the oblique ridge but also on the type of loading. The most stress on the cervical region was concentrated on the palatal root in some type of loading, whereas the least stress on the occlusal surface was recorded when the whole oblique ridge was replaced by the composite resin.ConclusionsWhen the occlusal contacts are occurring only on the palatal cusp, the stress distribution on the oblique ridge is noticeably affected by the cavity design.  相似文献
