Crystallization behaviour of amorphous Ni60 Nb40-x
Cr
x
(x = 0, 5, 10 and 13 at%) alloys was studied by differential Scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction measurements. It is shown that the addition of chromium reduces the crystallization temperature, stages of crystallization and activation energies associated with the crystallization sages of the Ni60Nb40 glass. Crystallization of the Ni60Nb40 glass occurred in three stages; in the initial stage a metastable M-phase formed in the amorphous matrix as reported earlier [1] . However, contrary to earlier observation [1], M -phase was not very stable and transformed together with some amorphous phase to the equilibrium Ni3Nb phase in the second stage of crystallization. In the third stage, the remaining amorphous matrix transformed to the equilibrium NiNb phase. On addition of chromium the formation/stability of the M-phase was found to be suppressed and equilibrium NbCr2 phase precipitated preferentially in the first stage. The second stage, corresponding to the formation of Ni3Nb phase, remained almost unaltered. The third stage corresponding to the crystallization of NiNb phase disappeared completely at 13 at% Cr. In the fully crystallized samples the proportion of the NiNb phase decreased and that of NbCr2 phase increased continuously with chromium concentration. 相似文献

The castings produced by the evaporative pattern casting (EPC) process have blow holes. The blow holes in EPC castings are because of the non-escape of the gas produced as a result of burning of polystyrene pattern in the sand mold. To overcome the problem of blow holes, the EPC process is combined with the vacuum (V)- process. The vacuum applied to EPC mold draws the decomposed gases and improves the casting quality produced by the EPC process. The developed hybrid process has been termed as the vacuum assisted evaporative pattern casting (VAEPC) process. The objective of this paper to investigates the effect of process parameters, i.e, degree of vacuum, pouring temperature, grainfineness number, amplitude of vibration and time of vibration on the impact strength of Al-7% Si alloy castings in VAEPC process. In order to evaluate the effect of selected process parameters, the response surface methodology (RSM) is used to formulate a mathematical model which correlates the independent process parameters with the desired impact strength. The central composite rotatable design has been used to conduct the experiments. The results indicate that the impact strength decreases with increases in the grainfineness number and pouring temperature. Whereas, it has an inverse relationship with amplitude of vibration, time of vibration and degree of vacuum. The best value of impact strength (2.34 N/mm2) has been obtained at 400 mm Hg degree of vacuum imposed, 650°C as pouring temperature, 60 as sand grainfineness number, 460 μm as amplitude of vibration, and 70 s as time of vibration. 相似文献

Reports of failure of existing concrete structures due to a lack of durability, rather than a deficiency in structural strength, has made concrete technologists, engineers, and researchers focus research on the parameters influencing durability performance with respect to time. Systematic performance monitoring, with respect to chosen durability parameters of existing concrete structures, will decide the direction of future research in this area. Inferences based on laboratory simulations and testing need to be confirmed by in situ field measurements and studies. In situ condition rating and performance monitoring surveys have been conducted by many researchers, scientists, and professional associations, and reported in literature. Inferences of few such studies are summarized and discussed. Deterioration of concrete structures constructed in recent times is observed at relatively faster rates, and has been mainly attributed to cracking. Cracking is associated with the use of faster-hydrating portland cements with increased fineness and the tricalcium silicate (C3S) content to support the high speed of modern construction. In the present research, a case study of deteriorated water tank structures situated in the semitropical region of India is presented. Some selected parameters—such as concrete cover, carbonation depth, chloride concentration, compressive strength, etc. which influence long term durability of structures—have been measured. 相似文献

While high-performance organic fibres such as poly (para phenylene benzobisthiazole) and Kevlar possess excellent mechanical properties under axial tension, their strength under compression is generally poor. This study focuses on a polymer infiltration approach to modify the mechanical properties of the Kevlar 49 fibre in tension as well as compression, in which various polymeric resins are infiltrated in an opened fibrillar network of Kevlar single filaments. Opening was achieved using concentrated sulfuric acid, which resulted in a strength loss at high acid concentrations. However, compared to the acid-treated fibre, both the tensile strength and strain-to-failure of the fibres were found to increase after infiltration with epoxy resins and bismaleimide polymers. Polymer infiltration also resulted in a significant improvement in the compressive strength of the Kevlar fibre, with the bismaleimide performing better than the epoxy resins. Surface structure of thin silver films (200 Å) on two technologically important films, indium tin oxide (ITO) and aluminium oxide, has been studied using scanning tunneling microscope. ITO films were prepared by reactive electron beam evaporation. Aluminium oxide films were prepared by oxidizing 2000 Å thick aluminium films evaporated on to H2 terminated single crystal silicon substrates. The surface structure of silver on ITO and aluminium oxide appeared to be same and was characteristic of Stranski-Krastanov type. The observed asymmetry in the island shape was attributed to the anisotropic nature of the strain fields surrounding the nucleation centres. 相似文献

A method for high-performance, software testing, called mutant unification, is described. The method is designed to support program mutation on parallel machines based on the single instruction multiple data stream (SIMD) paradigm. Several parameters that affect the performance of unification have been identified and their effect on the time to completion of a mutation test cycle and speedup has been studied. Program mutation analysis provides an effective means for determining the reliability of large software systems and a systematic method for measuring the adequacy of test data. However, it is likely that testing large software systems using mutation is computation bound and prohibitive on traditional sequential machines. Current, implementations of mutation tools are unacceptably slow and are only suitable for testing relatively small programs. The development of future mobile networks will be driven, in large part, by content and web based services. In this paper,
we examine several performance, scalability and architectural challenges faced by future mobile web applications and how advanced
mobile content delivery techniques can address these challenges. We review existing content delivery using a taxonomy that
consists of three categories: network scaling, end system acceleration, and content and protocol optimization. While wireline
content delivery focuses on network and server scalability, mobile content delivery will likely benefit most from optimizing
radio link usage. We also present our ongoing work in this area, which extends the functionality of edge caching to the terminal,
uses user interest correlation information to maintain low terminal power consumption and adds a new dimension to radio resource
management.
