The surface chemical states of the perovskite-type compounds, strontium doped lanthanum cobalt oxides (La1?x Sr x CoO3), have been investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Catalytic oxidations of both methane and CO have also been investigated using flow methods. The chemical composition of the surface of La1?x Sr x CoO3 was very different from that in the bulk, which was measured by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRFS). The catalytic activity of La1?x Sr x CoO3 increased with an increase in the quantity of cobalt atoms on the surface.  相似文献

Selective nucleation and deposition of diamonds were achieved on an SiO2-patterned Si substrate. The substrate was pre-treated with an electric field in plasma to introduce diamond nuclei. This treatment did not affect the SiO2 area. Consequently, diamonds grew only on the area where Si was exposed under the conventional conditions of diamond growth. The maximum nucleation density on the area of SiO2was about 5 × 107 cm−2. The ratio of the selectivity was 2 × 102 or higher. This process will be useful and very promising for manufacturing diamond electronic devices.  相似文献

The static and dynamic magnetic properties of W-type hexaferrites are tuned to meet the requirements of wide band frequencies for attenuation of electromagnetic interference and microwave absorptions purposes. For this purpose, the W-type hexaferrite of entirely new composition of BaCoZnFe16−2yAlyCeyO27 (y = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0) has been synthesized by the chemical co-precipitation. The material is characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The complex permittivity (?r = ?′ − j?″) and permeability (μr = μ′ − ″) spectra are determined using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) in a range from 0.5 GHz to 10 GHz. During this study, it is noticeable that the Al3+ and Ce3+ ions have considerable effect on the shape of the nanoparticles. Samples having Al-Ce contents y = 0.2 and y = 0.4 showed large values for magnetization (70.5 emu/g) and remanent magnetization (32.9 emu/g). In addition, more than 99% absorption (>−20 dB) is noted for this sample composition. Based on these results it is concluded that the microwave absorption characteristics of these compounds can be tuned for the required frequency by varying the thickness of the absorber. Due to this reason, potential employment of the synthesized nanoparticles for absorption of electromagnetic radiations at wide frequency band of 0.5-10 GHz has been proposed.  相似文献

In a proposed switching grating coupler (SGC), the grating period Lambda is chosen so that the SGC converts from a first-order grating coupler to a third-order distributed Bragg reflector by means of a small change in the guided mode index. The principle for switching the radiated wave power and the effective aperture of the SGC were experimentally confirmed by use of the thermo-optic effect of a polymer waveguide. The extinction of the peak intensity of the wave radiated by the SGC and collected by an external lens was measured to be 5 dB with a temperature change of 10 degrees.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Mesangial cells (MC) are known to secrete various vasoactive substances that may control endothelial and epithelial cell growth. Therefore, the cell-cell interactions among these cells may be important in the control of renal function. However, the exact mechanisms of maintaining the cell-cell interactions are not yet understood. We have focused on the role of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) in the regulation of cell-cell interactions, since HGF has many protective functions in the kidney. To investigate the role of HGF in renal injury, we examined (1) the effects of HGF on epithelial injury induced by serum deprivation, and (2) the role of local HGF production in the maintenance of renal structure. METHODS: Apoptotic changes in epithelial cells were assessed by nuclear morphology and DNA fragmentation assay. Transfection of human HGF vector into epithelial cells was performed by a highly efficient viral-liposome method. The effects of secreted HGF on the growth of renal cells were examined using a co-culture system. RESULTS: The addition of recombinant HGF (rHGF) stimulated the growth of rat and porcine epithelial cells. Moreover, the decrease in number of epithelial cells by serum deprivation was significantly attenuated by rHGF. Interestingly, apoptotic changes in epithelial cells induced by serum deprivation were also significantly attenuated by rHGF (P < 0.01). As a model of gene therapy, the effects of overexpression of human HGF gene in epithelial cells on apoptosis induced by serum deprivation were examined. Transfection of human HGF vector into epithelial cells also attenuated epithelial cell death induced by serum deprivation through the inhibition of apoptosis, accompanied by increased HGF production (P < 0.01). In addition, HGF also prevented endothelial injury induced by tumor necrosis factor-alpha and dexamethasone. Given the presence of a local HGF system, we measured local HGF secreted from renal cells. Immunoreactive HGF was observed in the conditioned medium of MC, but not epithelial cells, while the specific receptor of HGF, c-met, was expressed in epithelial cells. Of importance, co-culture of MC with epithelial cells resulted in a significant increase in number of epithelial cells, which was significantly abolished by neutralizing anti-HGF antibody. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, these results demonstrate that local production of HGF in MC may maintain the growth of epithelial and endothelial cells through its anti-apoptotic action.  相似文献

A new type of individual-cell-based on-chip multielectrode array (MEA) cell-cultivation system with an agarose microchamber (AMC) array for topographical control of the network patterns of a living neuronal network has been developed. The advantages of this system are that it allows control of the cell positions and numbers for cultivation using AMCs, as well as easy and flexible control of the pattern of connections between the AMCs through photothermal etching where a portion of the agarose layer is melted with a 1480 nm infrared laser beam. With adequate laser power, narrow micrometer-order grooves (microchannels) can easily be fabricated that can be used to combine neighbouring AMCs to enable topographical control of the neural network pattern. Using this system, an individual-cell-based neural network pattern was formed of rat hippocampal cells within the AMC array without cells escaping from the electrode positions in the microchamber during an eight-day cultivation, and could record cell firing in response to 1.5 V, 500 kHz stimulation through an electrode. This demonstrated the potential of the on-chip AMCMEA cell cultivation system for long-term single-cell-based electrophysiological measurement of a neural network system.  相似文献

For measuring the velocities in a fluctuating fluid flow, the new Disa 56C00 multichannel constant-temperature anemometer system can be used with the 56N00 signal analysis equipment to provide a digital output of mean, root mean square or correlation values. A simple interface arrangement and appropriate software control for reading data directly into an Apple II computer are described. With these the subsequent calculation of derived parameters, such as displacement and momentum thickness of boundary layers and turbulence intensity, can be quickly and easily completed.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to record, objectively describe and compare working postures of Brazilian and Norwegian construction electricians. Postures of the upper arms, head, and neck during work and breaks were quantified by means of inclinometry for a representative sample of 12 Brazilian and 12 Norwegian electricians in the construction industry during a full work-shift. Despite that differences were found between specific work-related factors, Brazilian and Norwegian workers revealed a high and very similar level and pattern of postures for all evaluated body regions, suggesting that results could be extrapolated to other electricians. Upper arm elevation was high and similar for both groups and head flexion and extension was pronounced compared to other occupations. Thus, extreme postures were identified for construction electricians in both countries, with similar exposure pattern also for defined tasks (planning, support and wiredraw), suggesting that this job is risky regardless organizational differences.  相似文献
