LIQUID TWO-PHASE WATER—PROTEIN—POLYSACCHARIDE SYSTEMS AND THEIR PROCESSING INTO TEXTURED PROTEIN PRODUCTS

Conditions for the formation of liquid two-phase water—protein—polysaccharide systems containing the main classes of proteins, as defined by Osborne, and various acid and neutral polysaccharides have been determined. Phase diagrams of some of these systems have been obtained. It is shown that, proceeding from liquid two-phase water—protein—polysaccharide systems, one can obtain different protein products without using spinnerets.     

Glass formation in the Se–Ge–Zn and GeSe3–ZnSe–Ag2Se systems

The glass-forming region in the Se–Ge–Zn (I) and GeSe₃–ZnSe–Ag₂Se (II) systems are determined, as well as some physical and chemical properties (temperatures of softening, crystallization and melting, density and microhardness). The glass-forming region in system I on the Se–Ge side (concentration limits 0–43% Ge). The maximum solubility of Zn is around 6% (at Se:Ge = 9:1). The glass-forming region in system II lies on the side Ag₂Se–GeSe₃ (from 54 to 100% GeSe) and ZnSe–GeSe₃ (from 78 to 100% GeSe₃) of the Gibbs’ concentration triangle for GeSe₃–ZnSe–Ag₂Se. A Sliding Mode Controller with Improved Adaptation Laws for the Upper Bounds on the Norm of Uncertainties

In this paper an improved adaptation law on the upper bound of uncertainties is proposed to guarantee the boundednenss of both states of the plant and the estimated control gains when the boundary layer technique is employed.     

BACKSTEPPING-BASED HYBRID ADAPTIVE CONTROL OF ROBOT MANIPULATORS INCORPORATING ACTUATOR DYNAMICS

By using the integrator backstepping technique, the control of rigid link, electrically driven robot manipulators is addressed in the presence of arbitrary uncertain manipulator inertia parameters and actuator parameters. The control scheme developed is computationally simple owing to the avoidance of the derivative computation of the regressor matrix. Semiglobal asymptotic stability of the controller is established in the Lyapunov sense. Simulation results are included to demonstrate the tracking performance. © 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
