We first demonstrate an integrated-optic device for a fibre laser Doppler velocimeter, which consists of a waveguide interferometer and a frequency shifter in z-propagation Ti-diffused LiNbO3. The device is also pigtailed with a single-mode fibre to pick up a Doppler-shifted signal. Using the fabricated device, the velocity of a moving object was successfully heterodyne-detected with a signal/noise ratio of 30dB. 相似文献

A myocardial 201TI SPECT examination was conducted both prior to and following surgery of two adult patients with an anomalous left coronary artery originating from the pulmonary artery (Bland-White-Garland syndrome). In this syndrome, the anterior wall is usually affected first. Preoperative examination demonstrated an inferoposterior perfusion defect. In both patients, the right coronary artery was markedly dilated, and a significant left-to-right shunt formation was observed. Both patients were diagnosed as possibly having coronary steal syndrome. A prolonged inadequate blood supply to the right coronary region may cause inferoposterior cardiomyopathy. In the postoperative examination, myocardial perfusion markedly improved in one patient whose preoperative SPECT showed redistribution in a delayed scan. Thallium-201 SPECT was therefore found to be useful in assessing both the preoperative and postoperative myocardial perfusion. 相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to present a metod to calculate real molecular weight averages of polymer samples from GPC chromatograms where the instrumental spreading functions are skewed and the concentration effect exists. In this method, it is assumed that (1) the skewed chromatograms of monodisperse polymer samples can be represented as resultant of halves of two different Gaussians, (2) the resolution factors are regarded as constant in the case of low sample loading, and (3) the peak elution volume is independent of the presence of other components in the case of low sample loading. Adequate monodisperse polystyrenes and the mixtures (binary, seven and ten components) were examined for this purpose; and the molecular weight averages calculated by this method were compared with the ones obtained by Rosen and Provder's method. From the results in our study, it is found that this method can be available for correcting molecular weight from GPC chromatograms except for very narrow high molecular weight samples. 相似文献

It is demonstrated theoretically and experimentally that the inversion symmetry of the diffraction pattern of a binary grating at normal incidence can be efficiently broken by the use of nonsymmetric profiles with wavelength-scale transverse features. Theoretically, binary gratings with two grooves (of unequal widths but with the same depth) within the period can deflect as much as ~80% of normally incident radiation into the minus first diffraction order when the deflection angle is 45°. 相似文献

The accelerator-driven transmutation system has been studied at the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute. This system is a hydrid system which consists of a high intensity accelerator, a spallation target and a subcritical core region. In the conceptual design study, two types of system concepts, sodium cooled and lead-bismuth cooled system, are being studied. In this study, we fucus on our lead-bismuth cooled accelerator-driven transmutation system to investigate basic characteristics. The thermal performance of a chemical heat pump that uses the reaction system of calcium oxide/lead oxide/carbon dioxide, which is developed for utilization of high‐temperature heat above 800°C, is studied experimentally. The thermal performance of a packed‐bed reactor of a calcium oxide/carbon dioxide reaction system, which stores and transforms a high‐temperature heat source in the heat pump operation, is examined under various heat pump operation conditions. The energy analysis based on the experiment shows that it is possible to utilize high‐temperature heat with this heat pump. This heat pump can store heat above 850°C and then transform it into a heat above 900°C under an approximate atmospheric pressure. An applied system that combines the heat pump and a high‐temperature process is proposed for high‐efficiency heat utilization. The High-Temperature Engineering Test Reactor (HTTR) in Oarai, Japan, has the potential to demonstrate the production of hydrogen by steam reforming and using nuclear process heat as primary energy input. Particular safety aspects for such a combined nuclear/chemical complex have been investigated such as fire and explosion hazard at presence of flammable gases (LNG, H2, CO) near the reactor building. A methane vapor cloud in the open atmosphere or partially obstructed areas is highly unlikely to detonate and damage the reactor building. Theoretical assessments and experimental studies significant to the HTTR-steam reforming system, include the spreading and combustion behavior of cryogens and flammable gases providing the basis for a comprehensive safety analysis of the nuclear/chemical facility. 相似文献

A line of transgenic rats (heterozygotes) carrying a chimeric gene comprising a regulatory portion of murine whey acidic protein and a structural portion of human GH (hGH) genes developed severe obesity with age. To characterize physiological mechanisms that lead to fat accumulation, an array of parameters related to obesity were studied. Blood hGH levels were continuously low, endogenous rat GH secretion was suppressed, and the pulsatility in peripheral GH levels was absent. Plasma glucose, insulin, triglyceride, and FFA levels in the male transgenic rats significantly exceeded those in nontransgenic littermates at 12 and 17 weeks, but not at 7 weeks, of age. All symptoms except hyperlipidemia were restored to normal by treatment with an antidiabetic agent, thiazolidinedione (troglitazone), for 1 week from 17 weeks of age. As phenotypic expression of obesity was already evident before aberration of physiological parameters, it was assumed that animals had a condition in which obesity or hyperlipidemia caused hyperinsulinemia. Gene expression and enzymatic activity of lipoprotein lipase in the adipose tissue in the transgenic rats were not different from those in normal rats. In contrast, the gene expression level of glycerol-3-phosphodehydrogenase was markedly elevated, suggesting that glycerol synthesis was much enhanced in the adipocytes of the transgenic rats. In an i.p. glucose tolerance test, the transgenic rats were not hyperglycemic at 7 weeks of age; however, the animal became hyperglycemic at 15-17 weeks of age. Finally, treatment with recombinant hGH for 1 week to produce pulsatile secretion reduced the size of epididymal and kidney fat pads and restored normal weight gain. These observations suggest that continuously low peripheral GH levels with the lack of pulsatile secretion resulted in obesity and noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. 相似文献
