We have synthesized an annealed porous aerogel titania (LUAG2), which demonstrates a very high photocatalytic activity for aldehydes and perchloroethylene (PCE) photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) in gas phase under blacklight and fluorescent light irradiation. LUAG2 has a BET surface area of 237 m2/g and a porosity of 0.31 (volume fraction). X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis shows LUAG2 is nearly pure anatase. It has improved the destruction of PCE and aldehydes as a group by 10-34% with black light compared to Degussa P-25. The optimum water vapor to butyraldehyde molar ratio is around 1/3. LUAG2 also shows better mineralization to CO2 than Degussa P-25 TiO2 does. Under irradiation of a 4 W fluorescent lamp LUAG2 gives a consistently higher conversion than that of Degussa P-25. The highly active photocatalyst indicates potential applications in indoor and outdoor environmental pollution control. A visible-light-responsive TiO2, NTB 200, is also investigated for comparison purposes.  相似文献

We develop a stochastic approximation version of the classical Kaczmarz algorithm that is incremental in nature and takes as input noisy real time data. Our analysis shows that with probability one it mimics the behavior of the original scheme: starting from the same initial point, our algorithm and the corresponding deterministic Kaczmarz algorithm converge to precisely the same point. The motivation for this work comes from network tomography where network parameters are to be estimated based upon end-to-end measurements. Numerical examples via Matlab based simulations demonstrate the efficacy of the algorithm.  相似文献

Viscosity of porous glasses has been derived from the elastic stress analysis, using the viscous analogy. Viscosity as a function of porosity has been estimated for spherical as well as for arbitrary pore geometry. Since the pore geometry changes during sintering, a shape factor that varies with pore geometry has been considered to predict the viscosity–porosity relationship. Viscosity as a function of porosity was measured on cordierite-type glass by isothermal sinter-forging experiments and data showed good agreement with the analysis. Experimental data from literature on viscosity as a function of porosity on two other glasses also show good agreement with the analysis.  相似文献

In Part 1 of this work, the possibility of improving single-screw extruders (SSE) better dispersive mixer was explored by harnessing extensional flows provided by the hyperbolic contracting–diverging channels of extensional mixing elements (EME). Addition of the EME to the pin screw generated enhanced breakup for polymer blends and nanocomposite systems without significant penalty in flow rate. In Part 2, experiments are performed on immiscible polymer blends (low-viscosity ratio and high-viscosity ratio) and nanocomposites on both SSE and twin-screw extruder (TSE) with the same rotation speed and throughput. Morphological results show tremendous improvement in dispersive mixing capability of SSE when equipped with EME that are mainly comparable to conventional TSE that is, with kneading blocks as mixing sections, although not as good as TSEs equipped with EMEs. Mechanical results also show enhanced modulus when EME is used in SSE operations.  相似文献

DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs), classified as the most harmful type of DNA damage based on the complexity of repair, lead to apoptosis or tumorigenesis. In aging, DNA damage increases and DNA repair decreases. This is exacerbated in disease, as post-mortem tissue from patients diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or Alzheimer’s disease (AD) show increased DSBs. A novel role for DSBs in immediate early gene (IEG) expression, learning, and memory has been suggested. Inducing neuronal activity leads to increases in DSBs and upregulation of IEGs, while increasing DSBs and inhibiting DSB repair impairs long-term memory and alters IEG expression. Consistent with this pattern, mice carrying dominant AD mutations have increased baseline DSBs, and impaired DSB repair is observed. These data suggest an adaptive role for DSBs in the central nervous system and dysregulation of DSBs and/or repair might drive age-related cognitive decline (ACD), MCI, and AD. In this review, we discuss the adaptive role of DSBs in hippocampus-dependent learning, memory, and IEG expression. We summarize IEGs, the history of DSBs, and DSBs in synaptic plasticity, aging, and AD. DSBs likely have adaptive functions in the brain, and even subtle alterations in their formation and repair could alter IEGs, learning, and memory.  相似文献

This article deals with plasma ion-nitrocarburising and high power diode laser (HPDL) surface treatment of 13Cr4Ni and X10CrNiMoV1222 martensitic stainless steels to enhance their cavitation erosion resistance. These steels are commonly used in hydro turbines and boiler feed pumps. These treated steels have been evaluated for cavitation erosion resistance and it has been observed that the plasma ion-nitrocarburising process has significantly enhanced the cavitation erosion resistance as compared to untreated steel whereas HPDL-treated steels have shown marginal improvement. This is due to formation of high hardness nitrides during nitrocarburising and formation of moderate hardness martensitic phase due to rapid heating and cooling rates involved in HPDL treatment. The cavitation erosion and micro-hardness data of plasma ion-nitrocarburized as well as HPDL-treated steel samples and their comparison with hard deposits such as stellite and HVOF coating form the main part of the article.  相似文献

Polymeric foams are now widely used and researched. The physical properties of polymeric foam can be related to a set of independent structural parameters or variables of the foam. Study of these variables and correlation with commercial FE packages is essential for reliable and faster product development. Some aspects of foam behavior are widely studied while some are little less, like correlation of physical unloading behavior. For example, a lot of work in the area of phenomenological constitutive modeling of uniaxial loading was done, though research in areas of unloading–reloading and their correlation still demands more attention. Increasing number of OEMs and suppliers are moving to computer simulations in the design phase to assess their future products. Hence, different parameters within FE packages play a significant role and also affect the results. Appropriate use of these parameters will narrow down error band and automatically reduce the cycle time and development cost. This brief review is expected to set the perspective for major research work done so far in terms of FE modeling correlation and constitutive modeling of polymeric foam vis-a-vis to its properties.  相似文献

Twin wire arc-sprayed (TWAS) coating of commercially available SHS 7170-cored wire was obtained on Ti6AL4V alloy, and to improve its properties, it was further surface treated with high-power diode laser (HPDL). The cavitation erosion (CE) resistance of TWAS-coated samples was evaluated as per ASTM G-32-2003 and it was compared with laser-treated and untreated Ti6Al4V alloys. The CE resistance of TWAS-coated SHS 7170 samples after HPDL treatment has improved significantly. The main reasons for its improvement are elimination of pores, increased fracture toughness, reduced hardness, and brittleness. The CE resistance of HPDL-treated TWAS coating is compared with water droplet erosion resistance. It is observed that there is a similarity in the both the phenomenon.  相似文献
