A 32-year-old female was admitted due to splenomegaly and leukocytosis in September, 1993. The leukocyte count was 26,900/microliter with 29% monocytes (7,800/microliter). A diagnosis of the chronic phase of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia was made. On November 19, 1993, splenic arterial embolization was performed. After the embolization, the leukocyte count rapidly increased, and acute respiratory failure developed. The respiratory condition was improved by methylprednisolone (m-PRED) pulse therapy. Subsequently, the effectiveness of chemotherapy gradually decreased, and there was an increase in the leukocyte count. Respiratory failure developed again but was successfully treated with m-PRED pulse therapy in addition to aclarubicin. On July 4, 1995, splenectomy was performed. The leukocyte count rapidly increased, and acute respiratory failure again developed. She did not respond to m-PRED pulse therapy, but the respiratory condition was markedly improved by leukoplasmapheresis. The respiratory failure in this patient may be associated with capillary leak syndrome due to neutrophilia. In addition, stasis of increased monocytes in the pulmonary capillaries and their infiltration into the pulmonary parenchyma and alveoli was thought to have occurred.  相似文献

Selective modification by ozonation for the surface of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was evaluated to separate PVC from the other plastics, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polycarbonate (PC) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), with almost the same density as PVC by the froth flotation process. Ozonation could selectively decrease the contact angles of flexible PVC from 87.5 degrees to 68.4 degrees and rigid PVC from 90.3 degrees to 66.9 degrees, whereas little decreases in the contact angle were observed for other plastics. This would be due to the replacement of the chloride group on the surface of PVC, into hydrophilic functional groups; carbonyl, carboxyl and ester group. The PVC was successfully separated from the other plastics by the froth flotation process after the selective surface modification by ozonation.  相似文献

Preparation of a model nano-matrix-dispersed polymer was investigated in terms of graft-copolymerization of deproteinized natural rubber latex with styrene, using tert-butyl hydroperoxide/tetraethylenepentamine as an initiator. The products were characterized by 1H-NMR spectroscopy and size-exclusion-chromatography after ozonolysis. The grafting efficiency of styrene was found to be more than 90% under the best condition of the graft-copolymerization. The morphology of the film specimens, prepared from graft-copolymers, was observed by transmission electron microscopy after staining the films with OsO4. Natural rubber particle of about 0.5 μm in diameter was dispersed in polystyrene matrix of about 15 nm in thickness.  相似文献

The strain‐induced crystallization of natural rubber (NR) was investigated by the measurement of the tear energy of a crosslinked blend consisting of NR and noncrystalline styrene–butadiene rubber (SBR). When NR was dispersed into the SBR matrix, the tear energy of SBR increased at various temperatures and tear rates. After the application of the principle of time–temperature superposition to the tear energy according to the Williams–Landel–Ferry equation, two distinct curves were found for the NR/SBR blend with respect to the reduced tear rate, despite the fact that the tear energy of SBR or the SBR/SBR blend gave its own single composite curve. When the fatty acid in the NR/SBR blend was removed by acetone extraction, the tear energy of the blend drew a single composite curve. The conversion of the two curves into the single composite curve for the NR/SBR blend suggested that the tear energy depended on the strain‐induced crystallization of NR dispersed in the SBR matrix, which was suppressed by the removal of the fatty acid. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Recursive polynomial expansion method is an efficient scheme to evaluate Green functions for large systems without direct diagonalization of the Hamiltonian. It is based on a polynomial expansion of the Green function, and has many advantages compared with other methods. However, there are little reports on its error estimations. In this paper, the cut-off error of the method is estimated analytically, which results from the truncation of expansion at finite orders. It is found that the error is inversely proportional to the number of expansion order N except for the singular points for the system with point spectrum. For the system with continuous spectrum, the error is inversely proportional to N3/2 and decreases much faster in terms of the expansion order.  相似文献

An analytical method was developed for determination of residual avoparcin in chicken muscle by measuring alpha- and beta-avoparcin, major components of the pharmaceutical preparation avoparcin, using HPLC with UV and amperometric detectors. The analytical HPLC was run on a Cosmosil 5C18-AR column (4.6 mm x 25 cm) with a gradient formed from A: 2.5% acetic acid, 0.01 mol/L sodium heptane sulfonic acid-acetonitrile (88.5:11.5) (pH 4.0) and B: 2.5% acetic acid-acetonitrile (10:90), using UV and amperometric detection (AMD) with glassy-carbon electrode (+900 mV). Avoparcin was extracted from chicken muscle by homogenization with methanol-0.2 mol/L sulfuric acid (6:4) followed by centrifugation after pH adjustment to 4 with 1 mol/L sodium hydroxide. The supernatant was evaporated to dryness, and the residue was dissolved in water. The aqueous layer was adjusted to pH 4 by adding 1 mol/L sodium hydroxide. Then it was purified on a Sep-Pak tC18 plus ENV cartridge. The cartridge was washed with water, and retained substances were eluted with 50% methanol. The eluate was evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure. The residue was dissolved in water and determined by HPLC. Recoveries of avoparcin spiked in chicken muscle were 73.1-88.1% at levels of 2-10 micrograms/g. The detection limits were 0.5 microgram/g (UV) and 0.2 microgram/g (AMD).  相似文献

Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is a potential substitute for conventional metallic biomedical implants owing to its superior mechanical and chemical properties, as well as biocompatibility. However, its inherent bio-inertness and poor osseointegration limit its use in clinical applications. Herein, thin titanium films were deposited on the PEEK substrate by plasma sputtering, and porous nanonetwork structures were incorporated on the PEEK surface by alkali treatment (PEEK-TNS). Changes in the physical and chemical characteristics of the PEEK surface were analyzed to establish the interactions with cell behaviors. The osteoimmunomodulatory properties were evaluated using macrophage cells and osteoblast lineage cells. The functionalized nanostructured surface of PEEK-TNS effectively promoted initial cell adhesion and proliferation, suppressed inflammatory responses, and induced macrophages to anti-inflammatory M2 polarization. Compared with PEEK, PEEK-TNS provided a more beneficial osteoimmune environment, including increased levels of osteogenic, angiogenic, and fibrogenic gene expression, and balanced osteoclast activities. Furthermore, the crosstalk between macrophages and osteoblast cells showed that PEEK-TNS could provide favorable osteoimmunodulatory environment for bone regeneration. PEEK-TNS exhibited high osteogenic activity, as indicated by alkaline phosphatase activity, osteogenic factor production, and the osteogenesis/osteoclastogenesis-related gene expression of osteoblasts. The study establishes that the fabrication of titanate nanonetwork structures on PEEK surfaces could extract an adequate immune response and favorable osteogenesis for functional bone regeneration. Furthermore, it indicates the potential of PEEK-TNS in implant applications.  相似文献

ABCD1 is a gene responsible for X‐linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X‐ALD), and is critical for the transport of very long‐chain fatty acids (VLCFA) into peroxisomes and subsequent β‐oxidation. VLCFA‐containing lipids accumulate in X‐ALD patients, although the effect of ABCD1‐deficiency on each lipid species in the central nervous system has not been fully characterized. In this study, each phospholipid and lysophospholipid species in Abcd1‐deficient mice brains were profiled by liquid chromatography‐mass spectrometry. Among the phospholipid and lysophospholipid species that are significantly more enriched in Abcd1‐deficient mice brains, VLCFA were present in 75, 15, 5, 4, and 1 species of phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, sphingomyelin, lysophosphatidylcholine, and lysophosphatidylethanolamine, respectively. Most VLCFA were incorporated at the sn‐1 position of phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine. Among the phospholipid species that are significantly less enriched in Abcd1‐deficient mice brains, odd‐numbered saturated or mono‐unsaturated fatty acyl moieties are contained in all phosphatidylcholine species. In addition, a number of phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylinositol, and phosphatidylserine species contained highly unsaturated fatty acyl moieties. Intriguingly, 44:1 phosphatidylcholine with VLCFA was mainly distributed in the gray matter, such as the cortex, but not in the white matter in the cerebrum and cerebellum. These results show that ABCD1‐deficiency causes metabolic alternation of long‐chain fatty acids and VLCFA. Moreover, our results imply a molecular mechanism for the incorporation of saturated or monounsaturated VLCFA into the sn‐1 position of phospholipids, and also indicate that the distribution of phospholipids with VLCFA may correlate with the development of X‐ALD.  相似文献

The effects of growth temperature on the fatty acid compositions of the phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), and total lipid (TL) fractions of the free-living nematodeCaenorhabditis elegans were investigated. A reduction in growth temperature from 25 to 15°C caused the proportions of eicosapentaenoic acid (20∶5n-3) to increase from 23.6 to 32.5% in the PC, from 7.4 to 10.8% in the PE, and from 12.9 to 19.9% in the TL fractions. Conversely, the levels of dihomo-γ-linolenic acid (20∶3n-6) and arachidonic acid (20∶4n-6) in these phospholipid fractions and the TL fraction both decreased with decreasing growth temperature. Analysis of the positional distribution of fatty acids in the PC fraction revealed that the change in the composition of C20 polyunsaturated fatty acid was obvious in positionsn-2. Lowering the growth temperature induced an increase in the level of the diacyl subclass of PE from 58% at 25°C to 71% at 15°C, with a concomitant decrease in the levels of the alkylacyl and alkenylacyl subclass of PE ofC. elegans. These changes observed in the phospholipids ofC. elegans might be one mechanism for adaptation to low temperature. Lipids 31, 1173–1178 (1996).  相似文献

We identified 22 genes from Aspergillus oryzae that are preferentially expressed in membrane-surface liquid culture (MSLC), among which Ser/Thr protein kinase (aopk1) and phosphatase (aoppt) genes were cloned. We also revealed that aopk1 encodes a protein with an N-terminal sequence 150 amino acid residues longer than that predicted from the registered sequence in GenBank.  相似文献
