A molecularly trichloroacetic acid (TCAA) imprinted non‐crosslinked polypyrole (TCAA‐MIPpy) has been successfully prepared and evaluated in its properties for both piezoelectric quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and electrochemical means of detection, and application of such sensors for determination of haloacetic acid concentrations in water. Haloacetic acid selectivity was demonstrated in gravimetric or in electrochemical sensors via either cyclic voltammetric or inter‐digitated conductometric (IDC) analyses studies upon comparison with nonimprinted polypyrrole and TCAA‐imprinted polypyrrole. The measurement results with all these systems revealed that the prepared molecularly imprinted polymer can recognize TCAA well from structurally similar compounds. The TCAA‐MIPpy incorporated with only the IDC transduction system produced the specific signal for TCAA detection in aqueous environment, which is useful for the quantifying TCAA disinfection by‐product in water. The analytical application for determination of TCAA in real‐life samples was readily achieved with the incorporation of TCAA‐MIPpy in the IDC analysis system, the results revealing the high sensitivity and selectivity of the method. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Samples of plasma lipid were tested for autoxidation during the heating step of the thiobarbituric acid (TBA) assay for malonaldehyde. Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) was used to quench sample autoxidation during the assay, and 25 ppm BHT was found effective in eliminating autoxidation in fresh plasma fat. At this concentration, BHT does not interfere with the reaction of malonaldehyde with TBA. Depending on fat concentration, absorbance at 532 nm was 2-5 times higher when samples were assayed without BHT compared to identical samples with 25 ppm BHT addition. It is concluded that BHT addition to the TBA assay before the heating step improves the reliability of the assay by eliminating autoxidation which may generate the majority of oxidative products measured in TBA assays lacking antioxidant protection.  相似文献

The cytochrome c content and total haem pigments in the breast and thigh meat of broiler chickens, hens out of lay, turkeys, geese, duckling (Peking), and muscovy ducks were determined. The levels of cytochrome c in the breast and thigh meat were: for chicken 11.4 and 35.5; for hens 14.0 and 84.2; for turkeys 13.1 and 47.4; for geese 141.0 and 107.8; for duckling 111.2 and 149.9 and for muscovy ducks 81.5 and 97.3 μg per g of tissue, respectively. The correlation coefficient between cytochrome c and total haem pigments concentration was r=0.98 for breast, and r=0.85 for thigh meat. The authors postulate that the cytochrome c may play a noticeable role in the colour of fresh and processed poultry meat, but further investigations are needed to confirm this.  相似文献

A feeding experiment with brown layers was carried out to find effects of graded levels of rapeseed (without, 15% and 30%) in layer diets on the fatty acid composition of egg yolk and related functional properties of such modified eggs. A considerable increase of the content of essential n-3 fatty acids in egg yolk fat was noticed by including graded levels of rapeseed in layer diets. The destruction force of a gel prepared from whole egg was improved by the highest rapeseed level (30%) and emulsifying capacity by medium inclusion of rapeseed in layer diets (15%). The thermal stability of an emulsion prepared from whole egg was not influenced by rape feeding. Viscosity of mayonnaise prepared from egg yolk and whole egg yolk was decreased by increased rapeseed levels in the diets. In tendency, organoleptic evaluation of sponge cake prepared from whole egg revealed better results for the control group. The baking height of sponge cake was improved by rapeseed inclusion in layer diets. It may be assumed that all these changes caused by rapeseed feeding are closely related to the mentioned changes in the fatty acid profile.  相似文献

Healing metallic materials involves high temperatures and large energy inputs. This work demonstrates rapid, effective, low‐energy, and room‐temperature healing of metallic materials by using electrochemistry and polymer‐coated cellular nickel to mimic the transport‐mediated healing of bone. The polymer coating enables selective healing only at the fracture site, electrochemical reactions transport metal ions from a metal source to fractured areas, and the cellular structure of the metal allows facile ion transport to healing sites and effective recovery of strength and toughness when the cellular metal is subjected to three types of damage (scission fracture, tensile failure, and plastic deformation). Using this strategy, samples fractured in tension and by scission recover 100% of their tensile strength in as little as 10 and 4 h of healing. The healing process is stochastic, thus a statistical method is used to quantify and predict the likelihood of achieving target healing strengths based on energy input. This electrochemistry‐based approach enables the first demonstration of room‐temperature healing of structural metallic materials and requires several orders of magnitude less energy than many previously reported metal healing techniques.  相似文献

UV irradiation on polysulfone (PSF) membranes was studied to improve their gas‐separation properties. Membranes with 19–25% PSF contents were prepared by the phase‐inversion method, and the membrane surface was modified with UV rays with a wavelength of 312 nm and a power of 360 µw/cm2. Measurements of gas permeation were conducted with pure carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), oxygen (O2), and nitrogen (N2) gases under 3–8 bar pressure at 25°C. Fourier transform infrared spectrometry revealed that the polar functional groups of hydroxyl and carbonyl were introduced by UV irradiation. The water contact angle of the treated membrane was reduced from 70–75° to 10–12° after 12 h of UV exposure. Scanning electron microscopy observation showed that the dense skin layer increased as the polymer concentration increased. After UV treatment, the permeation of O2 decreased from 0.4–3.4 to 0.2–2.3 m3 m?2 h?1 bar?1, whereas that of N2, CO2, and CH4 increased for all of the pressures used from 0.1–1.7 m3 m?2 h?1 bar?1 to about 0.1–3.4 m3 m?2 h?1 bar?1; this depended on the applied pressure and the PSF content. As a result, the selectivity ratio of O2/N2 decreased from 1.9–7.8 to 0.6–1.5, whereas that of CO2/CH4 increased from 0.9–2.6 to 1.1–6.1. Moreover, the O2/N2 and CO2/CH4 of the untreated and the treated membranes decreased with increasing pressure and increased with increasing polymer concentration. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J.
