Dengue fever (DF), dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), and dengue shock syndrome (DSS) cause serious public health problems, with nearly 390 million people affected and 20,000 deaths per year in tropical and subtropical countries. Despite numerous attempts, no antiviral drug or vaccine is currently available to combat the manifestation. The challenge of discovering an efficient vaccine is enhanced by the surplus presence of efficient vectors and drug resistance from the virus. For centuries, papaya (Carica papaya) extracts have been traditionally used to treat DF, DHF, and DSS. In the present study, we systematically investigated seven compounds isolated from papaya leaf extract with regard to their potential as inhibitors for non-structural (NS) proteins, NS3 and NS5, which play a crucial role in viral RNA replication. The computational tools applied stretched across classical molecular docking, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and SwissADME used to calculate binding affinities; binding free energies; Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, and Excretion (ADME); and drug-likeness properties, thus, identifying Kaempferol, Chlorogenic acid, and Quercetin as potential candidates, with Kaempferol and Quercetin scoring best. Therefore, for the Kaempferol and Quercetin complexes, hybrid quantum mechanical/molecular mechanical (QM/MM) geometry and frequency calculations were performed, followed by the local mode analysis developed in our group to quantify Kaempferol-NS and Quercetin-NS hydrogen bonding. Given the non-toxic nature and the wide availability of the Kaempferol and Quercetin papaya extract in almost all of the susceptible regions, and our results showing high NS3 and NS5 binding affinities and energies, strong hydrogen bonding with both NS3 and NS5, and excellent ADME properties, we suggest Kaempferol and Quercetin as a strong NS3 and NS5 inhibitor to be further investigated in vitro.  相似文献

The global and competitive business environment has identified the importance of a quick and efficient service towards the customers in the past few decades. Distribution centre (DC) plays an important role in maintaining the uninterrupted flow of goods and materials between the manufacturer and customers. The performance of the supply chain network can be easily improved by an effective or balanced allocation of customers to DCs. Improper or unbalanced allocation of customers can lead to the under- or overutilization of facilities and can further deteriorate the customer service. Performance of the DC can be judged on the basis of its ability to provide the right goods, at the right time and at the right place. The lead time or transit time to deliver the goods to the customers is an important parameter for the measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of a particular DC in a supply chain. In this paper, a multiple ant colony optimization (MACO) approach is discussed in an effort to design a balanced and efficient supply chain network that maintains the best balance of transit time and customers service. The focus of this paper is on the effective allocation of the customers to the DCs with the two-fold objective of minimization of the transit time and degree of imbalance of the DCs. MACO technique is a modified form of the traditional ant colony system, where multiple ant colonies cooperate with each other to find the best possible customer allocation pattern for the DC. The proposed technique shows better performance because of its nature of considering both positive and negative feedback in search of optimum or near-optimum results. The developed algorithm based on the proposed approach is tested on a real practical problem and the results are discussed in this paper.  相似文献

High temperature corrosion accompanied by erosion is a severe problem, which may result in premature failure of the boiler tubes. One countermeasure to overcome this problem is the use of thermal spray protective coatings. In the current investigation high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) and cold spray processes have been used to deposit commercial Ni-20Cr powder on T22 boiler steel. To evaluate the performance of the coatings in actual conditions the bare as well as the coated steels were subjected to cyclic exposures, in the superheater zone of a coal fired boiler for 15 cycles. The weight change and thickness loss data were used to establish kinetics of the erosion-corrosion. X-ray diffraction, surface and cross-sectional field emission scanning electron microscope/energy dispersive spectroscopy (FE-SEM/EDS) and x-ray mapping techniques were used to analyse the as-sprayed and corroded specimens. The HVOF sprayed coating performed better than its cold sprayed counterpart in actual boiler environment.  相似文献

In the present study, hydroxyapatite (HAP) coating along with HAP/TiO2 coating has been deposited by high-velocity flame spray (HVFS) technique onto 316LSS. Titania was used as a bond coat and HAP as top coat in HAP/TiO2 coating. The main aim of the study is to investigate the corrosion behavior of thermal spray coating of HAP and HAP/TiO2 on steel. Electrochemical corrosion testing was carried out using potentiodynamic polarization test. The corrosion behavior of bare and as-sprayed specimens was analyzed in simulated body fluid known as Hank’s solution. As-sprayed specimens along with corroded specimens were further characterized by XRD, SEM/EDS, and x-ray mapping analysis. It was observed that the HAP/TiO2 coating possessed higher microhardness (280 Hv) as compared to HAP coating (254 Hv). Surface roughness also got enhanced in case of HAP/TiO2 coating (9.35 μm) as compared to pure HAP coating (7.37 μm). The porosity of the HAP coating was found to be higher than the bond coating. It was observed that the Ca/P ratio almost resembled that of the natural bone composition. The corrosion resistance of steel increased after the deposition of HAP and HAP/TiO2 coatings. The maximum corrosion resistance was exhibited by HAP/TiO2 coating.  相似文献

3D Numerical study of temperature variation for subsonic rarefied gas flow in a microchannel is carried out using an in-house MPI-based parallelized DSMC code. The temperature drop in the microchannel decreases with an increase in the aspect ratio whereas it increases with an increase in the pressure ratio, the cross-aspect ratio (CAR), and the Knudsen number. 3D and 2D simulations results are compared and effect of the CAR and Knudsen number are brought out. Finally, a correlation that predicts the temperature drop is formulated along with a list of conditions that ensures a near isothermal flow.  相似文献

As devices and operating voltages are scaled down, future circuits will be plagued by higher soft error rates, reduced noise margins and defective devices. A key challenge for the future is retaining high reliability in the presence of faulty devices and noise. Probabilistic computing offers one possible approach. In this paper we describe our approach for mapping circuits onto CMOS using principles of probabilistic computation. In particular, we demonstrate how Markov random field elements may be built in CMOS and used to design combinational circuits running at ultra low supply voltages. We show that with our new design strategy, circuits can operate in highly noisy conditions and provide superior noise immunity, at reduced power dissipation. If extended to more complex circuits, our approach could lead to a paradigm shift in computing architecture without abandoning the dominant silicon CMOS technology.  相似文献

A telephone survey of households in 13 states in the southeastern U.S. determined residential fuelwood acquisition and use for heating during the 1991 heating season. Although wood burning accounted for only 10% of the total household heat requirement of the region, it accounted for 51% of the total heat requirements of wood-burning households. One-quarter (25%) of the households burned wood, consuming almost 9 million standard cords. Three-quarters (77%) of wood-burning households reported that wood burning contributed to household heating requirements. Wood as a source of home heating was particularly important to low income households, both rural and urban. Wood is the sole source of home heating for 17% of the wood-burning households in the region.  相似文献
