Synergetic Effects of Runaway and Disruption Induced by VDE on the First Wall Damage in HL-2A

The plasma facing component in HL-2A has been damaged seriously after disruption,and for this reason its operation is suspended for maintenance.The experimental phenomena and plasma configurations,calculated by the current filament code(CF-code) using the plasma parameters measured by diagnostics and the signals of the magnetic probes,confirm that the first wall is damaged by the synergetic effects of runaway electrons and disruption induced by a vertical displacement event(VDE).When the plasma column is displaced upward/downward,the strong runaway electrons normally hit the baffle plate of the MP 3 or MP 1 coil in the upper and lower divertor during the disruption,causing the baffle plates to be holed and wrinkled by the energetic runaway current,and water(for cooling or heating the baffle plates) to leak into the vacuum vessel.Another disastrous consequence is that bellows underlying the baffle plate and outside the coil of MP 3 for connecting two segments of the jacket casing pipe are punctured by arcing.The arc may be part of the halo current that forms a complete circuit.The experimental phenomena are indirect but compelling evidence for the existence of a halo current during the disruption and VDE,though the halo current has not been measured by the diagnostics in the HL-2A tokamak.     

The Neutron-Gamma Pulse Shape Discrimination Method for Neutron Flux Detection in the ITER

The neutron flux monitor (NFM), as a significant diagnostic system in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), will play an important role in the readings of a series of key parameters in the fusion reaction process. As the core of the main electronic system of the NFM, the neutron-gamma pulse shape discrimination (n-γ PSD) can distinguish the neutron pulse from the gamma pulse and other disturbing pulses according to the thresholds of the rising time and the amplitude pre-installed on the board, the double timing point CFD method is used to get the rising time of the pulse. The n-γ PSD can provide an accurate neutron count.

Neutron yield measurement system of HL-2A tokamak

This research presents the development of HL-2A neutron yield measurement which includes ²³⁵U fission chamber and BF3 and ³He proportional counters. Equivalent noise formula of the radiation detection signal amplification system was derived to guide the development of the signal amplification system. Then all detectors were calibrated in situ by using the ²⁵²C_f neutron source. The neutron yield of the HL-2A during neutral beam heating was analyzed. These results indicate that the developed neutron flux diagnostic system can obtain neutron yield results under various experimental conditions of the HL-2A tokamak, and can provide information on neutron yield.
