Failure of an infinitely compressible composite containing a finite cylindrical crack in axial compression

Spectrophotometric Determination of Polyacrylamide in Aqueous Solutions Using Cationic Dyes

Spectrophotometry was used to study the interaction of high-molecular polyacrylamide with cationic dyes: Methylene Blue, Acridine Yellow, and Toluidine Blue. Polyacrylamide samples were modified by alkaline hydrolysis. The optimum conditions of the formation of polyacrylamide–cationic dye adducts and their compositions were found. Simple procedures are proposed for the determination of the polymer. The relative standard deviation of the results of the determination of polyacrylamide in aqueous solutions is no higher than 6%.     

Bis[bis­(3‐phenyl­pyrazol‐1‐yl)­(pyrazol‐1‐yl)­methane]­copper(II) bis­(per­chlor­ate) acetonitrile disolvate

The title copper(II) complex, [Cu(C₂₂H₁₈N₆)₂](ClO₄)₂·2C₂H₃N, comprises two neutral substituted tris­(pyrazol‐1‐yl)­methane ligands bonded to a central Cu^II ion, which is positioned on a crystallographic inversion center. Six Cu—N bonds are arranged in a distorted octa­hedral fashion. The unsubstituted pyrazole rings on each ligand are oriented trans with respect to each other, inter­digitated with the two 3‐phenyl­pyrazole rings of the other ligand.     

2a,4a-Diazacyclopenta[c,d]Azulenes

A method of preparing 5-aryl-1,2-pentaniethyleneimidazoles from O-methylcaprolactim and -aminoacetophenone hydrochlorides is described. It is shown that 1, 2-tri-, -tetra-, and -pentamethyleneirrüdazoles and phenacyl bromide give the corresponding quaternary imidazolium salts, cyclization of which in the presence of base gives the previously unknown 5,6, 78-tetrahydro-2a, 4a-diazacyclopenta(c,dJazulenes (IVa-i).T. Selective Transport of Lead(II) and Strontium(II) Through a Crown Ether-Based Polymer Inclusion Membrane Containing Dialkylnaphthalenesulfonic Acid

New polymer inclusion membranes (PIMs) containing 18-membered crownethers and dialkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid are proposed for Sr2+ and Pb2+removal from nitric acid solutions. The influence of source phasecomposition and stripping agents was characterized and permeabilitycoefficients were calculated. The PIMs are easy to prepare and may be usefulin separation and concentration procedures for these cations from complexmixtures such as nuclear waste. Long-term stability was obtained for atleast several weeks of constant use during which no significant change ofpermeability was observed.
