The photoactivated antiviral and cytotoxic activities of the naturally occurring thiophene, alpha-terthienyl (1), and 15 synthetic analogues were evaluated against murine cytomegalovirus and Sindbis virus, and murine mastocytoma cells. After irradiation with near UV light, alpha-terthienyl and most of its analogues had significant toxicity, with minimum inhibitory concentrations in the range of 0.02-40 microM. In the absence of near UV irradiation, only one analogue had antiviral activity and five were cytotoxic. The most active analogues were those containing carboxylic acid, hydroxyl, or cyano substituents. Quantitative structure-activity relationship analysis of thiophene phototoxicity suggested that the rate of singlet oxygen production is the primary determinant of antiviral and cytotoxic activities. For phototoxicity against murine cytomegalovirus, a significant role for hydrophobicity was also demonstrated. Tricyclic thiophenes show significant potential for photochemotherapy of viral infections and cancer, and further evaluation in animal models is recommended.  相似文献

The photochemistry of α-terthienyl (αT) and its mono- and dodo derivatives has been examined using nanosecond laser Hash photolysis techniques. The triplet states of these intermediates have been characterized, and show strong triplet-triplet absorptions with maxima in the 450 to 490 nm region. The triplet lifetimes are normally reduced by efficient triplet-triplet annihilation and self-quenching both of which approach diffusion control. Triplet lifetimes in methanol obtained by extrapolation to zero laser dose and zero concentration are 30, 12.5 and 9.4 μs for αT and its mono- and dodo derivatives, respectively; the effect of iodo substitution on the lifetimes is attributed to heavy atom effects. The triplet states are efficiently quenched by oxygen and the electron acceptor methyl viologen, while amines tire very poor triplet quenchers. The iodo derivatives are photolabile. undergoing C-I bond cleavage from the singlet state, a process that was studied in benzene solvent, where the complex between iodine atoms and benzene can be readily characterized. Modification of αT by replacement of the central thiophene ring by an aromatic ring (i.e. DTB) causes drastic changes in the triplet and singlet state kinetic and spectroscopic characteristics.  相似文献

Recent developments in the field of reactive compatibilization of polymer blends prepared by melt processing focus on the addition of low molecular weight compounds. This work deals with in situ compatibilization through the formation of graft or crosslinked copolymers at the interface. Mixtures of semicrystalline hydrocarbon polymers have been subjected to free radical reactivity, in a co-rotating twin screw extruder (ZSK 30) in a single step. The particular system, high density polyethylene and polyamide 6, was blended in the presence of a peroxide and a reactive bifunctional monomer, maleic anhydride. Because of a combined effect, the reaction appears to occur mainly at the interface, where the resulting grafted copolymer acts as an anchor for the final stabilization of the biphasic system. Different analytical techniques, such as differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy and tensile testing, helped in characterizing the resulting blends and confirmed the high level of interfacial grafting and the expected improvement in mechanical properties.  相似文献

Condensation reactions between the anhydride groups of a copolymer containing maleic anhydride links and OH groups on different molecules were carried out in a plastograph, the copolymer being in the molten state. If dihydroxylated molecules or even telomers were used, the progress of reaction is easily followed by the rising of the consistency of the melt. The ester bridges formed between two copolymer molecules may be disrupted by methanolic transesterification in basic solution. Study of the reactivity of a series of monohydroxylated polymers of increasing DP showed that the compatibility of these hydroxylated polymers with maleic anhydride copolymer in the molten state is of outstanding importance for a good yield.  相似文献

The aminolysis of poly(styrene-co-methyl acrylate) (SMA) by octadecylamine in solution and in the melt has been reported in Part I. We now have studied the aminolysis of poly(ethylene-co-methyl acrylate) (EMA) with the same amine in the melt and compared the two sets of data in this paper. With EMA, the data confirmed and precised the catalytic mechanism proposed in Part I. The best tautomeric catalysts are the ones which form an eight-atom ring structure with the ester and amine groups. With EMA aminolysis is faster than with SMA because of the steric hindrance of phenyl groups in SMA. But EMA aminolysis remains a rather slow reaction. In a corotating twin-screw extruder the conversion was only around 4% at 220°C with a mean residence time of 150 s. It was also shown that the EMA/octadecylamine/catalyst system, like the SMA system, is homogeneous in the molten state at temperatures around 200°C.  相似文献

The charged hyperon beam at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) has been used to collect data on semileptonic decays ofΣ ?,Ξ ? andΛ. A magnetic channel selects 100 GeV/c negatively charged particles produced in the forward direction by interaction of the 200 GeV/c SPS proton beam on a BeO target. TheΣ ? andΞ ? hyperons are concurrently identified in a DISC ?erenkov counter, and their decay products are analysed by a magnetic spectrometer. Electron-hadron discrimination is achieved by the combined use of lead-glass and lead/scintillator counters, transition radiation detectors, and a ?erenkov counter. In this article we report results on the \(\Sigma ^ - \to \Lambda e^ - \bar v\) decay mode. Measurements of the Λ polarization and of the centre-of-mass distributions (baryon kinetic energy, electron-neutrino correlation, and Dalitz plot distributions) yield the vector to axialvector form factor ratiof 1/g 1=+0.034±0.080, in agreement with the value expected from the conserved vector current hypothesis (f 1/g 1=0). TheΣ ?Λe ? v→ branching ratio measurement gives a value of (5.41±0.30)×10?5. The effects of radiative corrections are not included in these results. They are discussed in the text. In addition to the methylated and prenylated flavonoids previously reported from Platanus acerifolia, the multistep chromatographic processing of the n-hexane extract of the fresh unripe buds resulted in the isolation of 11 metabolites. Besides six common wax constituents, the n-hexane portion led to the isolation of four gem-dimethylpyrano flavanones. They corresponded to two pairs of angular and linear isomers derived only from pinocembrin (5,7-dihydroxyflavanone). Additionally, a novel β-decadione was split into the major keto-enol tautomer as shown by the detailed NMR and EIMS analyses. Moreover, the structures of grenoblone and 4-hydroxygrenoblone, two previously reported dihydrochalcone-like metabolites, were revised according to the EIMS spectra.  相似文献

gem-Heteroatom-substituted fluoroalkenes have received little attention despite their great potential in medicinal chemistry or in fine chemistry. Indeed, due to the electronic and steric similarity between the fluoroalkene moiety and the amide bond as well as the high strength of the carbon-fluorine bond, these gem-heteroatom-substituted fluoroalkenes could be envisioned as stable mimics of various important organic functions, such as phosphates, carbamates, S-thiocarbamates and ureas. We present herein an overview describing the syntheses over the last decade of heteroatom-substituted fluoroalkenes in geminal position. This review will be divided into several sections covering each the common following heteroatom: oxygen-, nitrogen-, sulfur-, phosphorus-, boron- and silicon-substituted fluoroalkenes.  相似文献

Paper presents a simple method of generating a high-speed short water jet (droplet) by over-compression of the water layer sandwiched between bars with high acoustic impedance. The proposed method allows the creation of short high-speed water jets (droplets) with extremely simple and inexpensive equipment. Theoretically, jets with speeds higher than 1500?m/sec can be generated by this method.  相似文献

The characteristics of a manufacturing product are influenced by a variety of different factors, such as the material properties of the base product. The prediction of properties that give optimal results in metal forming applications is a complex task but of high interest for the manufacturer. To realize such a prediction scheme, the process chain is split up into individual process steps and for each of them an inverse modeling is required. The specific aim of this work is to present an approach for the inverse problem formulation of a process step and to solve it using methods of machine learning. Moreover, the challenges that often arise due to the ill-posed nature of inverse problems will be discussed. The main focus is on the crystallographic texture of metals, which strongly affects the deformation behavior during a process step and highly influences the characteristics of the final product.
