Conformational study of α-phenylthiocarbonyl compounds

Electrical and electrooptical characteristics of-phenylthioacetone,-phenylthiocyclohexanone, and-phenylthio-4-caranone have been determined and used in establishing the structure of the compounds in solution. It has been shown that the preferred conformer with respect to the bond , is the ac-conformer [(O=C-C-S)>90°], in which the gauche conformer with respect to the C-S bond is realized, with a 1,3-parallel position of the C=O and S-Ph bonds.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 11, pp. 2483–2488, November, 1991.

Synthesis and Transport and Ionophoric Properties of α,ω-Diphosphorylated Azapodands: XII. Membrane Transport of Organic Acids by Diphosphorylated Diamines and Diazapodands

Membrane transport of mono- and polyfunctional carboxylic acids mediated by phosphorylated diamines has been studied. The structure of complexes transferred through the membrane has been discussed; in some cases, a relation has been found between the efficiency of membrane transport of organic acid substrates and the structure of membrane carriers and their complexes with the acids. A correlation between the transmembrane flow and shift of some characteristic IR absorption bands (as well as change of their intensity) of the substrate–carrier complexes in comparison to the corresponding substrates and carriers has been estimated.

Flow-injection determination of water-soluble vitamins B1, B2, and B6 from the electrocatalytic response of a graphite electrode modified with a ruthenium(III) hexacyanoruthenate(II) film

The electrochemical behavior of water-soluble vitamins B₁, B₂, and B₆ at an unmodified graphite electrode and a graphite electrode modified with an inorganic film of ruthenium(III) hexacyanoruthenate(II) was studied. The electrocatalytic activity of the metal complex in the oxidation of vitamins was found. Ru(IV) species act as a catalyst. Conditions for recording voltammograms and hydrodynamic conditions for detecting the maximum catalytic current in flow-injection analysis (FIA) were selected. Procedures for the amperometric detection of thiamine, riboflavin, and pyridoxine were proposed.
