Creation of a donor-acceptor pair for studying intraprotein electron transfer with the participation of amino-acid derivatives of fullerene C60

Efficient quenching of eosin phosphorescence by amino-acid derivatives of fullerene (AADFs) such as C₆₀-alanine and C₆₀-glycine in aqueous solutions indicates the possibility of transferring electrons from eosin to fullerene upon collisions or in the exciplex state. To investigate electron transfer in the protein structure, we studied the process of incorporation of C₆₀-alanine and C₆₀-glycine into the heme pocket of myoglobin by controlling Förster quenching. The dissociation constant for the protein-AADF complex was estimated.     

Substantiation of the two-temperature kinetic model by comparing calculations within the kinetic and fluid models of the positive column plasma of a dc oxygen discharge

Results from kinetic and fluid simulations of the positive column plasma of a dc oxygen discharge are compared using commercial CFDRC software (), which enables one to perform numerical simulations in an arbitrary 3D geometry with the use of both the fluid equations for all the components (fluid model) and the kinetic equation for the electron energy distribution function (kinetic model). It is shown that, for both the local and nonlocal regimes of the formation of the electron energy distribution function (EEDF), the non-Maxwellian EEDF can satisfactorily be approximated by two groups of electrons. This allows one to take into account kinetic effects within the conventional fluid model in the simplest way by using the proposed two-temperature approximation of the nonequilibrium and nonlocal EEDF (2T fluid model).

New method for the synthesis of macrocyclic compounds

A mixture of isomers corresponding to closing of the ring at the 3 and 4 positions of the thiophene ring is formed during intramolecular acylation of 12-(5-methyl-2-thienyl)-lauryl chloride in a homogeneous medium; the reaction proceeds primarily to favor the formation of the isomer with the larger ring (80%). A method for the synthesis of macrocyclic -alkylcycloalkanones by reductive desulfurization of the corresponding bicyclic ketones, which contain thiophene rings, was developed.See Izv. Akad. Quaternization of tetrazoles under high pressure and establishment of the structures of quaternary tetrazolium salts by 13C NMR spectroscopy

The quaternization of 1- and 2-acetonyl-5-R-tetrazoles, as well as dimethyltetrazole, was accomplished under high pressure conditions (5000–14,000 kgf/cm²) by means of bromoacetone and methyl iodide and at atmospheric pressure and room temperature under the influence of methyl fluorosulfate. Catalytic synthesis of benzodithiophenes
